Quinton “Rampage” Jackson: “I Got Excuses for All My Losses”

Leading up to tonight’s shootout with Lyoto Machida, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson had been hinting something wasn’t quite right with him in an uneventful loss to Rashad Evans in his last outing. If you believe Rampage had already offered up an excuse by merely uttering something may have been awry, it’s because he was.

“I kind of learned something from watching Randy Couture. I noticed that he don’t make excuses and I do. I do make excuses for all my losses, cause I got excuses for all my losses,” Jackson half-jokingly told MMAFighting. “I just chose really to not talk about it this time.

“I just felt obligated to take the fight because I couldn’t take the fight in Memphis (at UFC 107) because of the movie.”

B.A. Baracus embarked on a nationwide promotional tour for “The A-Team” prior to meeting Evans at UFC 114. Despite claims he was physically and mentally in tune to take the top contender scrap, Rampage was staring up at the MGM ceiling for much of their contest.

“Things happened in camp,” Jackson vaguely said. “I was thinking that maybe I should pull out the fight, but I didn’t. I just did it for the fans and I tried my best and I almost won.”

If by ‘almost won’ the 32-year-old means a lopsided decision loss that had UFC president Dana White irritated beyond comprehension, then yes, he definitely ALMOST WON the heavily hyped scrap.

Rampage has already planted an early excuse seed for his Motor City meeting with Machida. He’s suggested another forgettable unanimous decision defeat could be coming courtesy of “the Dragon’s” ever elusive ways.

You can’t hit what you can’t catch, but Rampage will attempt to nail a homer regardless. If he happens to strike out, we may already know why.

The former 205-pound kingpins will headline tonight’s show inside The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan.

I love how every jerk-off with a keyboard thinks their a legitimate MMA writer and that their opinion matters. I certainly remember Rampage almost winning. He clipped Rashad late but failed to take the advantage and finish him off. Instead he hesitated and Rashad cleared the cobwebs and finished the fight. Now, I wouldn't say Rashad dominated the rest of the fight but he did enough to win. That seems pretty straightforward to me. Maybe it would help if the "writer" actually watched the fight instead of just looking at the results and using his obvious bias to write his article for him.

I think he was referring to the 2 and a half rounds before Rampage "clipped" Rashad that he was dominated in. So yeah, even though he "clipped" Rashad "late" in that fight, he was dominated for "most" of it.

I would hardly call what Rashad was doing domination. I understand you don't like Rampage but you shouldn't let your emotions cloud your memory.

Evans did most of the damage to himself in that fight. If you watch it closely you see he goes for a takedown and brings his own head into Rampage's knee which is what initiated his flurry.

Still Page had Rashad in a lot more danger in that final round much like Thiago Silva did. I still to this day dont know what stopped either of them from pulling the trigger.

In a situation like that where you are seconds away from losing the fight you may as well go balls out and try to finish it and neither did. Victory was a sneeze away.

Rashad knows he can't bang with Page and even went on to admit it in the post fight interview hence his wrestling strategy (likely formulated by Greg Jackson)
