Do we need MORE Fedors in MMA?

Now I know everyone has an opinion on Fedor's "work ethic" and "management". but one thing that I'd always admired about him, even more so than his fighting talents, was the fact that he decided that he was a MAN before he was a fighter. He decided that he wasn't going to work for someone he didn't respect. And it amused me to know in to see Dana White exasperated over this pudgy Russian fighter not giving him, Dana White (Zeus Of The MMA Universe) the time of day. He tried to discredit him, insult him, ignore him, and finally he had to acknowledge him. And for all that Fedor still decided not to sign.

Now Fans can argue about "Legacy" for years after Fedor hangs up his gloves. But what can't be argued is his integrity, something that I think the new generation should take a page out of Fedor's book and apply to their lives. Imagine having the balls to walk out of a job, that's paying the bills, because your pride as a man demanded that you respect yourself? How many men these days could do that? What would happen if fighters stopped kissing Dana's ass and started to demand respect? I'm sure there would be a lot of "releases", but maybe also an opportunity for top Talent, much like Todd Duffy and Gerald Harris, to become free agents and perhaps help build up in coming promotions like Bellator, Strikeforce, and Dream? Would such a revolt change the way the UFC treats fighters and does business? Sometimes I wonder if we will ever see a breaking point with some of the antics we see from Dana White running the UFC......

Btw, I happen to be a fan of Dana White (most of the time), and acknowledge his place in MMA history. But seriously? Isn't it time for the sport to "Evolve" beyond just the techniques in the cage/ring?

you mean do we need more overrated, good for nothing hacks who dive into triangles because they suck and duck fights and has ugly nose and pretends not to speak english and is afraid of the ufc?

that would be the sherdog response^^^^^^^^

mine response however: is sure more fedors would be great! make dana sweat a little.

I don't think I will ever see another fighter like Fedor in my lifetime. Someone that has beaten the resume of fighters like he has. The dozens of fighters he has beaten that have gone to the UFC or to other major promotions.

I think that the UFC has deep enough pockets to get anyone they want. And unless it is some sort of family business, I don't see another fighter doing what Fedor has done. Like if Scott Cocker's son became an amazing fighter....or Bjorn Rebney's son. I thought that once BJ Penn left the UFC to fight Gomi under his brothers promotion we might never see him again, but he fought, he won, he came back, and got paid more.

I am not sure how much it would help anymore. I think the UFC has become so big....and the fighters salaries have become public and some of the advertisers and sponsor money has also become public....it is hard for anyone to compete.

Does that mean we would get more Pashak's?

I don't understand how you can want the sport to evolve but then also ask if we need more Fedors?

I think the talent pool is evolving just fine however I would like to see the return of the Yellow Card from Pride. I think if there is more riding on the line in all these fights we would be almost guranteed to see more eventful fights.

I prefer my fighters to come into their own and be as unique as possible. For me that is what makes MMA so great and we really get to see how conflicting styles can collide.

I dont want to see another Silva, Shogun, Fedor, Jon Jones, Machida, Rampage...

Isn't Anderson Silva another Fedor? He's dominated his division for about 5 years and defeated almost every relevant opponent of his generation.

I think GSP falls into that category also. Look at Aldo, hes making the same statement. Fighters are evolving, and its whoever chances with the times that will be the best.

I think you guys are missing the point. Someone said anderson is like a fedor?! HOW?! This thread is regarding his personal prowess. How he handles himself as a person with integrity before a fighter trying to get paid. Fuck no anderson isnt close to fedor, hes a great fighter but his antics and being disrespectful is something fedor would never do. I have no idea how ANYONE can bash fedor as a fighter. He has such good fighting talent he could easily talk as much shit as possible and get a free pass. Look at brock, he isnt even good and people still just put up with his bullshit. When fedor says he cares about god, family and his country before his legacy or fight career he really means it. That takes a VERY strong and genuine person to say that and truly mean it. The sport would 100% benefit from more fighters like fedor, after all the more you care about what your fighting for, the better you will fight and strive to become a better fighter. There is NO more respectful fighter in any organization today then fedor.
