Default KOTC Platinum event in South Africa with Ken Shamrock (Spoiler)

» Blog Archive » Ken Shamrock loses in South Africa to Mike Bourke

Quote:
UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock lost to journeyman, Mike Bourke last night in South Africa. In the second round Shamrock dropped Bourke with a big right and injured his leg in a scramble causing the ref to stop the fight and declare Bourne the winner.

“The World’s Most Dangerous Man” has been anything but after his return to MMA following a year long suspension due to steroids. In July Pedro Rizzo walked through Shamrock earning a 1st round TKO win. Shamrock then defeated Johnathan Ivey in October in a fight where Ivey was inadvertently poked in the eye in the third round and was not given time to recover. Shamrock won the last round and the fight. Now with his loss to Bourne Shamrock’s career is on life support and hopefully he will have enough dignity to retire before he becomes an even bigger joke.
Although I don't agree with any writer giving advice to any fighter. I know Ken is broke and needs to earn a living. And if his stint on TUF has taught me anything, he isn't the best coach either.

If he can continue to travel around the world to different MMA organizations fighting middle of the road type of guys, I would be happy with that....people can diss him all they want, but how else is he suppose to earn a living?

I feel bad for the guy and I hope he finds a way to earn a living outside the octagon, but I expect him to keep doing what he likes to do. I just hope he gets well soon and wasn't too badly injured.

This is the only article I could find on this event which happened yesterday. I am sure there will be more information to come soon enough.

I only had a problem with Shamrock when he was headlining UFC cards when he clearly wasn't worthy of that spot on such high level cards. But now that he's basically a journeyman fighter jumping from organization against other guys of his level then he can fight as long as he wants as far as I'm concerned.

So he rocked the shit out of the guy he was fighting, and hurt his leg and couldn't continue. How does that show he can't fight anymore? Obviously he rocked the guy and was on his way to winning. Don't get it.

If the fight has gone beyond the first round in a fight like that it should be immediately stopped and go to the scorecards IMO.

Yeah....I don't get what that writer was trying to say.

Saying he is a joke, but he rocked his opponent?

I wonder if fighters can go from fighting in pro fights back to amateur fights....so that he only has to fight 2 rounds. Or maybe fight under the old female rules...3 minute rounds.

The guy is just trying to say Ken has lost 7 out of his last 10 . Hes has not put two wins together in the last ten years . Lets not forget he is 46 . Ken my still want to fight and sure he can still walk to the cage. He is just not a dangerous guy to fight at this point hell if any thing he is a safe guy to fight . Some one to make a name off sure but really how far is beating Ken getting any one theses days !

jesus its even got to the point hes losing to himself.

serious note tho Ive always liked Shamrock somewhat, sometimes more/less then others but hes always someone Ill follow. Glad he rocked buddy and seemed like he was gonna win that woulda been 2 in a row. Its too bad we cant see Shamrock vs Shamrock I really wanted/hoped Ken would lay a beating on Frank all these years.
