Bloody Elbow - Pound-for-Pound the Best in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Commentary, News and Community

Quote:
Phil Davis discovered a gash on his shin that required 36 stitches to close, following his win over Tim Boetsch at UFC 123.

The cut went unnoticed by the medical staff conducting Davis's post-fight exam, and Davis himself only noticed it later on while watching the event's headlining fights.

You always hear these war stories where a soldier loses a limb and doesn't even know it because he's so jacked on adrenaline. I'm NOT comparing an octagon battle to warfare, but clearly it took some time for Mr. Wonderful's adrenaline to come down. The doctor conducting the post fight exam probably saw that one-arm kimura, decided to avoid the clinch and sent him on his way without conducting the physical.

Agree, can't wait to see who he faces. I think the janitor would be a good test.

How does a doctor NOT notice a cut that requires 36 stitches?

I agree that would be a good fight, but I think Hamill deserves a top 20 LHW at this point, like Lil Nog.

I think either Hamill or winner of Thiago vs. Vera would be a good test. I think Mr. Wonderful just needs to work on his stand-up and sub.defense and he'll be set. Really looking forward to seeing what he will offer to the LHW division.

As if THAT took 36 stitches to close... Shit, where I'm from, you'd get 5 stitches, then kicked outta the doctor's office and called a pussy.

That would be a good fight, but If Thiago wins I think he should fight someone like Rampage. Maybe have Davis fight someone like Bonnar (if he wins) or Krzysztof Soszynski (who is also just coming off a win). All these would be awesome fights.
