WEC 53: Henderson vs. Pettis Official With 11 Bouts - Bloody Elbow Event is to take place on December 16, 2010 in Glendale, Arizona. I totally forgot this event was coming up.
Not sure if the prelim fights are going to be on TV or not, but Varner vs Roller listed as the first prelim and Brad Pickett vs Ivan Menjivar. I think those 2 fights are going to be exciting.
Varner coming off 2 loses and a draw in his last 3 but he is still a gamer despite coming off as a jerk sometimes
I still like watching him fight and Roller lost his last fight for #1 contender spot with a submission loss in the last few seconds of the fight.
Pickett, who the WEC have been billing as Brad Pitt's character from Snatch and who hasn't had a boring fight, super entertaining standup fighter. He'll be facing the Canadian journeyman fighter Ivan Menjivar, who has fought Matt Serra, Jason Black, Jeff Curran, Joe Lauzon, Urijah Faber, Caol Uno, Bart Palaszewski, Vitor Ribeiro, and Hideo Tokoro to name a few. He stopped fighting back in 2006 after 2 loses. Now he's back and has been training with GSP at Tri-Star in Montreal...now we will see if he is really ready to come back to the big leagues.
And those are just 2 prelim fights.
Two championship belts on the line. Lanky Cerrone takes on the babyfaced Polish Hammer Horodecki. Another Polish fighter Palaszewski who is another journeyman...but he's been on a nice run lately and who has really impressed me as of late taking on the Prince of Persia Kamal Shalorus.
Can't wait for this event...I think they are gonna end the WEC with a smash.
Wonder who's announcing...guess Bonnar might be training...maybe they'll get Mir back...probably still not in Zuffa's good books...who knows.
