He started the fight throwing lots of body kicks, and he switched to head kicks. There was obviously a strategy; he started off going for the head with his punches and to the body with kicks, then switched it up. He also slips jabs a lot and counters with a stiff jab. He did get pretty predictable, but I think it had a lot to do with getting caught by that huge haymaker early in the fight. Johnson really went after him in that fight; people can make fun of Phan for struggling with his game plan but he was the smaller and less athletic fighter. Being as composed as he was in the pocket when Johnson was throwing those huge punches mixed in with double legs was pretty impressive imo.

I think Nam's boxing is pretty good techically. He goes to the body like noone I've seen in awhile. However, if Nam takes as many punches as he did in the Johnson fight, he's going to sleep. If Garcia is landing like that, he won't need three rounds to put him away.

Oh I agree with the body shots now, I said that earlier. He looked good in the Garcia fight. I think his striking looked 10 times better in that fight than it did on the show. But, that was against an obviously out of shape Garcia....more than normal I mean. Like I said, I like Phan, I just think they were pumping him up too much on the show. He for sure looks better now though.
