Hahahahaha!

I still think Matt Hughes is the greatest WW of all time based on his whole volume of work, but I think GSP has the potential to overtake him eventually.

I would say that after looking at each fighter's record GSP is very much on the verge of surpassing Hughes' right now if he hasn't done it already.

Fine then address the way he got put to sleep by Matt Serra or subd by Hughes, or beat up from the feet up by BJ Penn (1st fight), or the fact that he enjoys a size advantage over most of his competition and hasn't competed outside of his weight class.

This article reminds me of the "10 reasons why Strikeforce makes the UFC tap". What does personality have to do with anything. Dedication to the sport? What?! Of course he's dedicated, he's a fighter!!! How do you become the face of Sportscenter, if anyone is, it's Brock for MMA. I'll trash this because it's an article based on opinion or garbage facts

So he got put to sleep. Except for he tapped to strikes. So he tapped to strikes while unconscious?
You say SO many things that make no sense that I just end up thinking it's an accident when you say something that DOES make sense.

Anyways, my opinion on whether highlights count or not is that they do count. However they are a small factor and more of a tie-breaker type of factor.

The Chris Lytle example is actually a good one. No, nobody thinks Lytle is an all-time great despite his stellar highlight reel. However, he is probably regarded much higher than most other UFC fighters who hover around a .500 record, right?

Of course GSP makes up for it in other ways. The fact that he often wins fights by COMPLETELY dominating the scorecard, virtually winning the fight for the entire 25 minutes is a seprate, different kind of awesome.

It would be hard to argue that it would have been BETTER for GSP had he KOed Fitch instead of just dropped him, and actually pulled off the Kimura on Hardy instead of coming close.
These aren't NEGATIVES to be used AGAINST GSP, just LESS points in the positive column, if you know what I mean.

So yeah, highlight real material should have a positive impact on the way a fighter is viewed, as far as I'm concerned.

Or you're just really bad at detecting sarcasm... Btw you did him absolutely no favors by reminding everyone that he tapped due to getting punched in the face.

I think I would rather be knocked the hell out.

Sarcasm...right.

I have trouble detecting a lot of things in your posts; usually it's consistency, rational thought, logic, and informed opinions I fail to detect. I'll add sarcasm and see if it makes a difference.

He DID tap from strikes; he didn't get KOed. It doesn't matter what I would rather.

He is also still my favourite fighter. I feel no need to do favours for him, nor do I need to do mental gymnastics and try alter my reality so that I can place him in a good light. You should take notes.

Easy enough.. There's now, officially, no one who could be considered GOAT who doesn't have a loss or two on their record, so how they lost is a bit incedental.

Isn't that the mark of a true champ? Take a beating and come out on top? Don't we all celebrate A. Silva for recently having done just that?

This is a BS rule (the weight cutting) but since it exists and is legal you can't fault him for it... There are also numerous people on the potential GOAT list who enjoy the same advantage...Penn and A.Silva certainly come to mind...in fact, Fedor might be the only one who doesn't cut weight to fight on a regular basis....
