When you have close match-ups based on skill and style, you get close tough decisions.

When you have mismatches in styles you get KO's

Also, comparing a year end Strikeforce card packed with some of their top name fighters to an UFN headlined by two reality show guys and a Bonnar fight is a mismatch anyways. Compare a Strikeforce Challengers card with an UFN and there is a little more legitimacy

I could NOT fathom that THIS many people would be screaming "mismatch(es)" and "well-rounded fighters" (referring to what we saw at TUF 12 finale) ...So, I'm supposed to be IMPRESSED by (anything other than Maia/Grove) by a wrestler with power (...wrestler.boxer hybrid) with a low gas tank vs a good grappler with no boxing...J. Brookins vs M. Johnson...I mean, really? OSP was more fun to watch (and that wasn't mismatch, watch him fight Antwain Britt two weeks ago who was supposed to beat the CRAP OUT OF OSP to get a rematch with Feijao) you have legends in Babalu vs Hendo (a decade ago the first fight occured and old school fans have been waiting forever to see the rematch). This was a decisive and dominant victory for Babalu. I mean FFS every fight had a great story, angle, appeal in it and some people are RAVING UFC!

And before people mention UFC 124 coming up...McCorkle vs Struve is the co main event

I don't usually agree with you but I think your dead on with this.

I think the UFC's habit of cutting fighters after a string of loses makes these guys play it a little safer and go for the win over the entertainment.

I don't really think that's a bad thing though. To me sports are more about competition than excitement. I'd much rather see my team win the Superbowl 3-0 that lose an action packed 45-52 playoff game.

It really does feel like Joe Silva has lost his touch in matchmaking. Cutting most of their fireworks guys doesn't help either.

Didn't read through this whole thread but gotta say, really? Yeah Strikeforce was fun to watch but really, you had C level fighters KOing each other except for the main event where a Blevel fighter KOed a C level fighter.

Big Foot almost lost to a 205er.
A 185er dropped to 170 and got KOed by a C-level Daily.
Lawler KOed a 40 year old who should have retired after Belfort KOed him.
It was like when the UFC let Karo fight for no reason.

KOTC puts on some exciting fights as well but no one is dumb enough to compare them with top flight talent.
