| UFC Fighters are really gonna have to Up Their Game.(SPOILERS)
I'm not a UFC Hater at all, but lately a lot of friends have been saying "Remember when UFC Fights were fun to watch?"
It seems like most of their cards are really lacking fighters that go for the kill & TUF 12 VS Strikeforce was another prime example of that.
TUF 12:
11 Fights.
7 Unanimous Decisions,
1 Split Decision,
2 Submissions, &
1 Knockout.
Strikeforce - Hendo/Babalu:
13 Fights.
3 Knockouts,
4 Technical Knockouts,
2 Unanimous Decisions,
1 Split Decision,
1 Technical Unanimous Decision, &
2 Submissions.
Yeah I know some nights just Don't Deliver, but the UFC has had WAY too many of those happening lately.
Also aware that Strikeforce had 2 fights more than TUF, so lets just take away the Technical Unanimous Decision & the Split Decision from Strikeforce & they still have 7 people on their ass seeing stars(6 more than UFC), 2 Subs(equal with UFC), & only 2 UD(5 Less than UFC).
Strikeforce just whooped UFC's ass.
I know a lot of people are gonna say, "but UFC has a deeper pool of talent & more fighters are equal in abilities & it's hard to stop someone like that."
To me that excuse is wearing real thin lately.
NOT HATING on UFC at all(wanna make sure that's clear), but I'm just curious How Many Other People Here Are Starting To See UFC Not Deliver???

I think the UFC's matchmaking can be poor sometimes but at the same time sometimes the best fighters who have to fight each other make poor match ups.

Im sure worrying about getting kicked out of the UFC has a lot to do with the mentality of the fighters. Maybe they think its best to play it safe and win instead of risking it all and getting KTFO.
Swinging for the fences is a gamble.

To add to that: STYLES make fights...NOT NAMES! Zuffa's Joe Silva, is apparently not aware of this fact.

I'm not sure it's fair to compare the SF card to a UFN card when the SF card had Henderson, Babalu, Lawler, Lindland, Smith and Silva....that's about the best they have to offer short of Fedor, Werdum, Diaz, Melendez and Overeem whereas the UFC has a huge card upcoming. The UFN cards are just kind of a tease at this point.

UFC is still king. No matter what somebody's pals say. Until SF starts impacting the UFC PPV buyrates, they're still just a blip on the radar.

There are a few truths we learned last night. Yes, styles make fights. And yes, mismatches make stoppages. Hendo's power vs Babalu's chin was an easy prediction to make. Scott Smith's get rocked a bunch and get lucky approach vs Daley's legitimate striking also ended in a no brainer. Though surprising at first, the HW overpowering the LHW was another result that wasn't going to shock anyone.
Basically, if you're serving lambs up to the slaughter, you're going to get lamb chops. I don't even pity anyone who bet money on Smith or Babalu. Of course, I would have enjoyed a few more finishes out of TUF 12 but there were still entertaining fights. But, I don't expect one evenly matched opponents to end in one getting steamrolled. Semtex lobotomized Smith but what the hell was Smith's gameplan? Strike with the guy who is a great striker but poor grappler? Even after he got tagged a few times, same gameplan.
Also, UFC gave us a free card on Spike as opposed to SF on showtime. I'm not sure how many people get Showtime but I am not one of them. That was a pretty entertaining show for free. There's a quote in the movie Snatch that sums this up perfectly. "If I throw a dog a bone, I don't want to know if it tastes good or not."

Nice KO card by Strikeforce, but weak overall MMA card...as usual.
