Nam Phan confirms to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he was paid his win bonus following his controversial loss to Leonard Garcia at the TUF 12 Finale:

"It's almost a blessing in disguise," Phan said. "It almost made me more popular. I really appreciate the support from the MMA community, especially the UFC and Dana White. Everyone from the UFC had my back, and I really appreciate that."

"Dana white came by backstage and told me, 'You're getting your win bonus because you won that fight,' " Phan said. "I thought business is business, and I just thought if I lost, I lost, and I would only get my base pay. That's how it usually goes. But the UFC – Dana White takes care of the fighters. I really appreciate that."

The UFC definitely takes care of guys who perform, can't take that away from them. And it's nice to see Phan succeeding after how badly everyone put him down on this website based on his TUF performances. He looks a lot better when he's fighting guys his size.

Good to hear it.

I think Nam really brought it in that fight. He has very technical striking, mixes it up very well, great TDD, hes like a springboard, and he can take heavy shots. I hope he gets a step up as if he won, and Garcia can keep swinging for the fences.

good im guessing they wont cut him now. i guess because the decision was so utterly terrible that they went against the norm.

its kinda bullshit how they usually have only people who make the quarters get fights at the finale and then if you lose no matter how the fight goes you get cut.

But Dana's a monster, we all know that

Liked Nam before the show, and love him even more after the show and after that fight!

His dramatic performances were most people put him down. Nam did a horrible job trying to channel his inner Richard Hatch.
