Default Alistair Overeem- Fighter of the Year????

If you watched K-1 last night, you heard King Mo hint at it and I just wanted to spark some debate....

MMA:
Defended the SF HW title by dismantling Brett Rogers

K-1:
Destroyed Poturak
Destroyed Edwards
Outlasted Spong
Smashed Saki's arm/hand
Destroyed a banged up Aerts

Has anyone achieved more this year in fight sports???

I voted no and then saw the thread title "fighter of the year", not "MMA fighter of the year". Overeem has definitely accomplished tons in K-1, much more than I would have expected. I don't know who I would name as the fighter of the year at this point. Will take me a while to think about it.

In boxing, it's clearly Pacquiao (again) this year.
In MMA, there are a few such as Edgar, Velasquez, and Werdum. Although Werdum had one fight this year, he definitely had a bigger win than all the other MMA fighters. Shogun also one but huge win, but he would be after these three imo.
In K-1, it has to be Overeem.

So between all those guys, I'm still undecided

I'm pretty biased against AO, so people should take this with a grain of salt...but I really think competition had a lot to do with it. If Aerts had faced Saki instead of Schilt to advance to the finals [or to put it another way, if AO had to face both Schilt and Aerts] we would have a different WGP champion, in my opinion.

I just finished catching up with the fights, and I was disappointed in Schilt's performance, overall.

I don't see AO's 2010 accomplishments in MMA as anything but a bad joke.

I say no way. He did well, but in his own sport he didn't do much. He fought MMA and defended his belt once, so there you go.

Edgar or Cain has my vote.
