As much as I like Shields, I agree he's walking into a death trap against St. Pierre. He offers zero in his stand-up, and I don't see him throwing GSP around. he barely beat Kampmann, could hardly take him down, and did very little when he did
| Going by 1 fight when the past 10 fights Shields had were pretty dominant in grappling and on the ground is silly. Shields poses a very large threat to GSP and is better than GSP in a few areas of MMA which is saying a lot. I don't think GSP can go a 5 round fight vs Shields without getting taken down a few times and Shields is one of, if not the best, at keeping people on the ground.
As a GSP fan, Shields really scares me and is in no way to be taken lightly.

I'm not saying Kampmann is better then his last 10opponents, but remember he came from Middleweight, and had to drop the weight after a good while at 185.
I don't think he was performing to his full potential at all because of that weight cut, and I don't think it will be any different in his next fight.
And to RH:
I was never that good at math

A healthy Shields can beat GSP. I would say Hendo was a step up in competition and he dominated him in the last 4 rounds, Kampmann made dumb strategic mistakes and Shields was not healthy that fight.

To be completely honest, I love GSP, but i also like Shields, and if Shields goes out and beats GSP up, I'll be happy as long as it's a good fight. Same with last night. I really don't like Kos, but if he came out and convincingly won that belt I'd be content, as long as it was exciting.

Well, this certainly gives Jake Shields something to look forward to, given that he nd his K1 level striking are probably next in line for GSP.
I hate Kos, but gave him a great distinct possibility against GSP over Fitch or Shields in that he not only had a one in a million "puncher's chance", but was relatively confident in standingup(insofar as he isn't AS reliant on the ground as the other two top contenders).
Shields has scary jits and is a big WW, but his standup is abysmal.
