Schaub's a progressing HW with a great "upside" and some genuine athleticism, but I think Mir's got an edge at this juncture and should be fighting somebody akin to Nelson, while Schaub/Struve just makes more sense for me right now.

none the less, i am stoked with this match up. schaub has shown that he is a dangerous striker and i think it is a huge stup up for him but imo he matches up well with mir aside from his lack of experience (compared to mir's experience).

very interesting fight, schaub's stand up looked vey good against gonzaga very fast and crisp. mir really needs an impressive win and although schaub isnt really in contender status yet, a strong win over him would prove that mir is still a contender and far above being a gatekeeper. i think frank still has a few years left in the top teir of the division, but he cant drop a fight to an up and comer like schaub if he wants to stay there and get another title shot down the road.

I would expect Mir by first round sub but this fight sounds like it could easily be a repeat of Mir/Vera.

I am going against the grain here, but Mir has been vastly overrated since his victory over an injured and past his prime Big Nog. If Schaub can keep the fight standing I believe he has a clear advantage, and I also believe he will utilize that advantage. I say this fight will serve to put Schaub on the map in the HW division. Although I dont think Schaub will ever be a true title threat.

He is one of the few fighters I have seen get absolutely destroyed on multiple occations, but still manages to be near the top of the names listed in HW contender conversations by the UFC and fans alike.
