no disrespect to fitch, but what does he think will change the second time around? its hard to argue he's evolved much.
at least Koscheck stepped up his stand up game in the few years between fights (not that it did him any good), but fitch is the same fighter as he was.

Face it guys, GSP isn't moving up. If you want to see him fight Anderson, the only way it will happen is if Silva moves down.

Wow, Dave shouldn't be so hard on himself. Kos had a shot, Fitch had a shot, Cain is the champ, Thompson was a champion. Does he think title shots are easy to get? Out of all the gyms and trainers in America, how many can say they brought multiple guys to championship fights in the UFC? Not that many. Even if a fighter doesn't get a title shot, it doesn't mean the trainer or gym sucks, sometimes it's just timing and a little bit of luck.
Arguably, if there were no GSP, Fitch might be champ already. Cheer up Dave, you've done a good job so far, keep up the good work.

A Fitch win over Penn would make the rematch much more attractive, but that card would obviously not do near as many numbers as GSP vs Silva. Also the potential super fight should be booked within the next year or two as Silva is starting to reach his late thirties and could perhaps begin to slow down. I think it looks as though Fitch is going to have to be on the waiting list for quite some time and is going to run the unfortunate risk of losing. It is sort of unfair but the UFC is going to make as much money as they can and who could blame them. Jon had his chance and got smashed which left an image in a lot of fans heads; I would think it would be an extremely difficult sell to people who watched the first fight. Sheilds is getting the go ahead shot now because, even though he is super limited, he is also a fresh face.
I have no problem with Zuffa sending GSP to 185 to fight Anderson, we as fans deserve it and it will also provide both champions with the most elite adversary either has ever faced. My only concern is that this potential mega fight will push Okami further back down the line. If any one in the UFC deserves a chance to challenge for a belt it is Yushin not Fitch.

I'd actually argue that he has gone backwards instead of evolving. Before he fought GSP he threw leg kicks and even a random power right to try knock his oppenents head off. Now he just concentrates on takedowns and getting a dominant position. I used to be a big Fitch fan but i honestly can't stand watching him fight these days. My biggest problem is his refusal to look for submission attempts or g'n'p when he gets these dominant ground positions. He usually gets a dominant position and then works at stayin in that position for the whole round and doesnt attempt to finish the fight.
He's the only top ranked fighter i can think of that learned absolutely nothing from fighting the champ. He hasn't evolved at all or taken anything from his fight with GSP. Does he honestly think that in a rematch he could take GSP down and hold him down for 5 rounds cos thats the only gameplan he could have at the moment. It would be a carbon copy of the first fight with GSP deciding to stand and trade with him(lets not forget GSP has evolved his stand-up since their last fight)resulting in an even worse beatdown then before with the exception that GSP would probably finish him now cos since the beating Fitch took in the first fight his ability to take a punch has diminished. I've seen him rocked afew times since the GSP fight by shots that probably wouldnt have rattled him before. He would have to destroy BJ to get any interest going in the rematch but i actually think BJ will tko him.

If Fitch beats BJ Penn and the fight before he beat Thiago Alves, then guess what... he was earned his rematch. Argue about his style and call him boring, hell say he does not have a chance against GSP. The fact remains that would be two wins in a row over highly ranked fighters. And in the past 7 or so years he has a 20-1 record.
The arguments against Fitch are superficial things. The cold hard facts show that he is the number 2 WW in the world and has earned his shot to become number 1.

I just see this as an attempt to push for the title shot again for Fitch. I mean, personally I think Fitch would stand more of a chance in becoming champion if his fought for a vacant title (if GSP decides to move to 185 in the next year or so as it has been said he will) against another top contender, than he does of beating GSP (especially after how good GSP looked vs. Kos)

For some reason ever since watching "Renzo Gracie: Legacy" I have not been a fan of Dave Camarillo, so even though he has accomplished a ton and has had an assload of success, I don't feel bad for him if he takes this way too hard.
