Can someone just give me a legit reason why Fitch should not get a title shot if he beats BJ Penn? I want to see a real argument against him.

I have none because whether or not I think he has a chance against GSP is irrelevent to me. If you earn the rematch, you earn the rematch.

I could understand someone arguing that someone should have to take a longer road back to the title shot, if they've already had a chance against the current champion. GSp had to do this to get his second shot against Hughes. If Fitch beats BJ, he will have taken that harder road.

My question to you is this: If BJ wins, how far back does that push Fitch? Will have have to win ANOTHER 6-7-8 fights to get back in the picture?

I don't see Fitch fighting GSP ever again if he loses this fight. GSP will probably be gone by the time he gets his chance again.

If BJ Penn wins, I think he would have to beat 2 or so top contenders. Hardy, Condit, Shields, Kos (yea I know it will never happen) or Kampmann. 2 or 3 of those guys. Plus Penn would either have to go back to LW or fight for the title.

The winner of Penn/Fitch should fight the winner of Shields/GSP. The losers of both fights should probably fight as well.

I agree he SHOULD have to beat 2-3 top contenders to get back, if he were to lose.

I can totally imagine Dana coming out with some statement about Fitch being a 'choker' and 'at the back of the line' or something like that, unfortunately.
