| UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture Retires UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture Retires? - Bloody Elbow Quote:
The legendary Randy Couture, a former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, has called it quits after an amazing thirteen year career in the cage. Couture was on the fence in recent months about whether he would ever fight again. Tonight, it seems he has finally announced his decision via Twitter:
Thanks to everybody who's been tweeting about seeing my fights I must have missed the memo I think I'm at the end of it Yall. It's time.
It will be an active retirement for the UFC star who finished his fighting career with consecutive wins over Brandon Vera, Mark Coleman, and boxer James Toney. The Natural will try his hand at making a go of it as an action star after a successful supporting role in the Sylvester Stallone hit "The Expendables." |

Although there's still a few fights I'd like to see him in, it makes sense, and i'm glad he gets to leave on a couple wins, instead of Liddell, whose legacy will be marred by consecutive knockout losses

I'd still love to see him fight some guys like Mirko Cro Cop, but his time really is up at this point. He is 47 (I think) and has definitely slowed down. The man who beat Gonzaga and Sylvia and the man who fought Brock, Nogueira and Vera were different.
Randy has done more than most fighters could ever dream of doing (in under 30 fights no less). He had nothing left to prove 3 years ago.

He's done enough in his career I hope he enjoys his retirement. Hopefully he does more decent movies not the half assed style of movies that the WWE puts out

People don't remember Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, or Evander Holyfield for there declines after all. Every one of them is still a legend, and I think Liddell will be to.

I remember Gretzky and Jordan doing nothing at the end of their careers as well.

believe you me, I respect the hell out of Liddell for what he did for the sport, and what he accomplished in the ring, but i doubt anyone here can deny they'd think of him a lot better if he hung them up after the wandy fight.
Look at Tito Ortiz
And what about Jens Pulver?

This makes a lot of sense. No reason to go out and fight past your time. I think he can still hang with a lot of the UFC's great Light-heavyweights but why risk injury and possibly hurting your legacy with more unnecessary losses. Good for Couture, I support him 100% and he will no doubt go down as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, top 10 in my book.
