When I started getting into MMA, Robbie Lawler was the man. He's young still, so I guess it is not out of the question for him to still be big in the sport down the road. | I know! Robbie was what? 19 when he entered MMA? somewhere around that, hes great on his feet! hopefully he'll have a versitile game when he makes his return to the UFC, if he makes his return..

He was in the militech camp last I checked, so I don't think he could get any worse at his ground game when he's training with those guys. I don't know what his MMA future entails, but I look forward to his return if it is ever to take place. My dream fight would have to be Swick vs Lawler.

Robbie Lawler is Icon Sport/SuperBrawl Middleweight Champ. He signed a 5 fight/6 figure deal, which is alot more than UFC was paying him. He is doing pretty good over there. He was supposed to fight Jason "Mayhem" Miller before Miller got in trouble with the law and was suspended. He then fought and beat Niko Vitale in a rematch for the Middleweight title. He has 3 fights left on his deal I believe. So you could see him in Pride or UFC after that if he doesn't re-sign.

Back in the day Oleg Taktarov (sp) was my fav and have since moved on through don Frey to Chuck. Honourable mention goes out to Robbie Lawler, Matt Hughes, and since watching him on TUF, I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for Tito. |

I'm a little late to the party but I figured I'd chime in nonetheless...
Of all the older guys my favorite has to be Royce. I was watching his UFC 1 fights the other day and eventhough I knew the end result I still marked out at the end of every match.
Now I like Hughes and Silva. No matter how many times I see Hughes pick up and slam his opponents it never ceases to amaze me. Silva's staredowns at the beginning of matches are worth the price alone..
On a COMPLETELY unrelated note... why the hell is there a smiley getting crucified as one of the "smiles"?

Dan wasn't necessarily a favorite of mine back in the day, but I had respect for him...until him and that Becky Levi butch fixed that fight with Travis Fulton at WEC. Remember that debacle?
My wife and I even stayed at the same hotel as Dan and Becky. After the the fight, we saw them at the hotel and my wife and I went up to him & Becky, just wanting to shake hands with someone that we both admired. She started with the whole, "I really admire you, blah, blah, blah" and him and Becky both looked really embarrased to be getting so much praise. A couple of days later, the Travis Fulton bribe leaked out and in retrospect, we knew they felt weird getting all this love.
Can't stand the guy and that Becky bitch. At the time, we didn't have a lot of money and for us, the money we spent on tickets, a hotel and gas was a huge sacrifice and we just wanted to see good fights. Come to find out we were bamboozled by a fixed fight by Severn & Becky, whom we had followed and admired from the early days of the UFC.
