Shogun is far superior on the ground to anyone Evans has faced it isn't even funny. He has an active guard and is super dangerous. Rashads bb is a joke. When has he even passed guard. Shogun would tap forest in a grappling match. He was gassed and fought with a blown out ACL, so I take that ground battle with a grain of salt.

Shogun has been ACTIVELY doing BJJ since years before he started Thai boxing. you see the videos of him rolling...wow! he's got serious skills, as does Machida who he copter swept with relative ease even though Machida had wicked tight side control with over-unders...

i would have to agree with ya tbear. i will def be rooting for shogun, but i think that rashad has a better chance here. if it comes down to stamina and the later rounds, you have to give the conditioning to rashad. which shogun is gonna show up? the one who looked gassed and terrible vs coleman, or the one who ko'd machida. and after being out for so long, i tend to worry. we all saw how he did after that surgery vs forrest.

shogun is gonna have to connect to rashads chin which doesnt seem to be great, and try to keep the fight standing where he has the clear advantage. otherwise, i fear it being a long night for the champ.

Coming off knee surgery and a long layoff to face one of the best fighters in the LHW division I think is going to be too much for Shogun. And the last time he came off a long layoff after knee surgery was against Coleman and he looked like shit. I am not saying Shogun will look like what again but he will need to bring his A game for a guy with the all around skills Evan has.

Shogun is not only going to have to recover from surgery but spend a lot of time working on his takedown defense. I know his BJJ is amazing, but Evans is no slouch in the submission defense department. And even if he is active from the bottom the point is unless he can submit Evans he loses this fight from the bottom. Shogun's best chance to keep this fight standing and hurt Evans and TKO him. Fighting off his back for five rounds = Evans new LHW champion.

After everything I said right now, I am going with Shogun. I think he will find a way to hurt Evans and do what Thiago and Rampage could not and that is finish him off in the 4th round. But I would not be surprised to see Evans pull off the win. Either way this is going to be a great fight.

Knee surgery + long lay off = KO lose for Shogun .
No I dont think Rashad is the better striker or the better fighter. However I think that the knee surgery and long lay off are going to dramatically affect Shogun. I'm thinking he'll come out looking like he did against Coleman. Which if he does, Rashad is going to wear him down with his wrestling and get the KO in the later rounds when Rua will dead tired.

Of course when it comes to picking fights I'm probably batting around .300 so I'm more than likely wrong . But it's nice to go against the grain once in a while.

Well Shogun is on the right path right now, he went through his recovery and rehab with no problems according to Dana before going back to training. Can't wait to see Shogun come back in top form. (Hopefully).
