If he wins a couple of times and gets a few FOTN bonus' or sub or KO bonus' it would be a huge boost...as wll as sponsorship money and what not.

Plus it's doing something he obviously loves doing.

To say no to your dream and what you have been trying to achieve...fighting...he would regret that for the rest of his life. As for being a cop...doesn't sound like that was his lifelong dream, but instead something he tried to do late in his life for job stability.

That is the way I see it.

Sure being a cop can be a noble thing, but from what my cop friends tell me is that it is for the most part a thankless job.....and with there being dozens of cases against cops in Toronto every year....I think being a fighter is a much safer job.

It seems like at least once a month there is a corruption charge or something about a cop abusing their power in the news....fighters are liked and cops (for the most part) are feared.

Hopefully they give Sean a chance and just put his cop duties on hiatus.....if we had Sheriff's and shit like in the states it would be easier (ask Tim Sylvia or Steven Seagal) but in Canada it's either join the fed cops (RCMP) or region cops and both are tough programs to get in....also being that Sean is as white as snow, he isn't a minority...and I am sure there are a lot of other white boys who are willing to take his spot.

I know he didn't "win" FOTN but Dana gave him the bonus anyways. He just made about $120000 in one night which I would guess is at least two years his normal salary. My guess is that he'll stay in the fighting circuit.

And rivet, although I agree with your job stability observations, with other organizations like Bellator and Strikeforce out there you're almost guaranteed another shot outside of the UFC just because of where you've fought previously. Having your name associated with the UFC opens up a crazy amount of opportunities in the way of gyms, coaching positions, and seminars. For any professional athlete your job security goes about as far as your performance and health does. The UFC is definitely a put up or shut up or occasionally get screwed organization but sometimes you just have to have confidence in yourself and do what makes you most happy.

Fight now, be a cop later....Law Enforcement isn't going away, it'll be waiting for him once he decides to step down from being a fighter.

I must have missed the part where it said he was 34...it would be a much wiser decision to stay a cop.

think it's bullshit!! Who is anyone to say what this man is capable of?if you guys are saying it's impossible for a guy to train after work and on his days off your fucking crazy. In the begining every fighter had to have a primary job as well as train due to the fact fighters still weren't making good money. Case in point? EVERY single mom in America that has a full time job and raises 3 kids alone while paying the bills, going to school events, helping with homework, cooking dinner, cleaning, driving the kids to every extra carricular (can't spell that sorry) activity plus attending those events. Let's say he trained and fought and no one knew on the force then would they care? If you can pull it off then who cares. It's like needing a drug test for a job and you never got caught with drugs, if they can't tell your doing drugs by your ability to work or your behavior, then obviously it's not affecting anything.

People are saying it can't be done but Carwin had (still might) a full-time job as an engineer. Chris Lytle still is a full-time firemen (with 4 kids I might add), and Mike Russow works full-time for the Chicago PD. I'm sure there are countless other fighters who have a full-time job.

That's not what anyone is saying at all. To be in the UFC for a consider amount of time he would have to do things like press conferences and other promotional duties. Especially if he went on a win streak. All those things take days out of the your calendar. You can't just fight without your boss knowing. "Hey Sean why do have a black eye and your arm in a sling? Is it because you were on UFC 129 Saturday?" Sean replies "ummm yeah maybe... don't worry though boss this isn't going to affect my job in any way".
