| WEC 53 Weigh-in Results (Photo gallery) WEC 53 official weigh-in results: All competitors, including title fighters, on weight | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
GLENDALE, Ariz. – MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) was on scene and reporting live from today's official "WEC 53: Henderson vs. Pettis" fighter weigh-ins, where all competitors successfully made weight.
Today's festivities took place at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Ariz., the same site that hosts Thursday's Versus-broadcast event.
All four co-headliners and title fighters made weight without incident.
WEC 53 features lightweight champ Ben Henderson (155 pounds) vs. Anthony Pettis (154.5) and bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz (134.5) vs. Scott Jorgensen (135) in the co-headliners. Henderson, though, voluntarily and immediately stripped and weighed in while standing behind a towel, which means he narrowly made the 155-pound limit for his title fight.
Tomorrow's show serves as the WEC's swan song; the fan-friendly organization mergers with its sister promotion, the UFC, in 2011. The Henderson vs. Pettis winner gets an immediate UFC title shot, and the Cruz vs. Jorgensen winner will be crowned the first-ever UFC bantamweight champ.
The official WEC 53 weigh-in results included:
MAIN CARD
Champ Benson Henderson (155) vs. Anthony Pettis (154.5) - for lightweight title
Champ Dominick Cruz (134.5) vs. Scott Jorgensen (135) - for bantamweight title
Donald Cerrone (155) vs. Chris Horodecki (155)
Bart Palaszewski (156) vs. Kamal Shalorus (156)
PRELIMINARY CARD
Danny Downes (154.5) vs. Tiequan Zhang (155.5)
Shane Roller (155) vs. Jamie Varner (156)
Ivan Menjivar (135) vs. Brad Pickett (136)
Ken Stone (135) vs. Eddie Wineland (136)
Danny Castillo (155.5) vs. Will Kerr (155)
Yuri Alcantara (154.5) vs. Ricardo Lamas (156)
Renan Barao (136) vs. Chris Cariaso (136) |

So excited for this card. I'm a huge Pettis fan and I would love nothing more than to see him pull off the W. Unfortunately I think Bendo will be too much for him. If Pettis has a chance I think it will be in the stand up, and unfortunately Bendo is pretty sharp in that area himself. This should be an awesome fight though can't wait.
This whole card is sick. Cruz/Jorgensen should be pretty good. Cerrone/Horodecki should be a war. Not too mention Pickett, Roller, Shalorus.....honestly, there's too many legit fights on this card. Great finish for the WEC and can't wait to see this!

Gonna get a 6-pack of Mickey's, some brinner, sit my ass on the couch, and enjoy what I think will be the most exciting card of the past few months.
I hope Bendo takes this, but Pettis has been lookin good as hell his last few fights. I got a feeling he might pull off the upset. And I'm really interested to see how Tiequan Zhang does in his fight. I'll bet my rent money that all the Zuffa suits want that guy to do well.

Can't wait. As much as I love the merger, I am going to miss being able to sit down before a WEC card starts and know 100% that these fights are going to be sick. They are always a fantastic night of fights top to bottom.
Really pulling for Pettis I love that guy, win or lose he should be able to have a solid career in the UFC. He's very young and brings a style to fights that people like to watch, and a style that can finish people. I think Cruz will frustrate Jorgensen for the win. And I agree with Kevo about Zhang. If he wins he's getting a massive push from Zuffa's marketing department

I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with Danny-boy Downes, but check out how much his physique changes in-between fights. That's crazy.
The kid got his ass kicked last fight but he's a total badass despite his disposition. I'm excited for this card!

i am anxious to see how varner performs. since defending his title and winning vs hicks in 08, varner has gone 1-2-1 with the one win in that 1st fight vs cerrone which i think he would have lost if he wouldnt have quite (imo).
it'll be interesting to see how he does, i really hope they show that fight.
