Dear MMA gods, please do not let Royce Gracie fight. There is no one at WW that he could beat. Every fighter with any kind of name value will smash Royce. Honestly the best thing to do would be to put on an exhibition type match between him and maybe GSP. Otherwise Royce is going to get his ass beat by every top 10 WW in the UFC.

Royce is my original favorite fighter, him and ole Shamrock. But they both belong on the retired side of fighting.I started to say in my opinion, but that's a fact man. These guys should just try and teach what they can and leave their legacies alone.
EDIT:I absolutely CANNOT,however, understand the call to battle they must feel.

I don't know, the fitch fight would make the most sense, unless Fitch becomes a KO artist between now and then, Royce could have a shot should Fitch decide to "grind". The UFC just picked up Mckee from the MFC, that could be a good match up for him too. Jake Shields is another intriguing match up. Royce is a fighter, I'm sure if he comes in at the best shape of his career and takes this seriously he could pull a Mark Coleman/Stephen Bonner at least that one night. A nice ground war would be great for the Brazil show, maybe make it a grappling match or something?

Not to say I don't enjoy BJJ matches but not taking up a sizable portion of MMA PPVs that I'm paying 50 bucks for.

They should have him fight James Toney. That would, once again, let the UFC show how superior MMA is to boxing |

I'm not sure why so many posters are focused on Royce fighting WW's...he's a MW, and has been a MW for ages. He weighed something like 188 for his last bout--the rematch with Sakuraba, and cut to a catchweight at 180 for the bout with Hughes.
Very simply, while we may see Royce in the octagon again, I can't see him making WW.
Ever.

rh | I think the sentiment isn't so much about Royce cutting to WW so to speak, rather that WW challengers are probably the most proportionate level of challenger for Royce at this juncture. A legitimate MW like a Nate or Wand would be a ridiculous stomping, while BJ and Fitch are big names who will be a little smaller and won't have to cut anything.
Personally, I think Sakuraba/Royce III is the best potential matchup.
