Silva has Vitor to worry about anyway. Belfort is the only man I can see maybe beating Anderson in the standup at MW. But, I would love to see Silva fight Shogun.

The reasons are many and have been covered in this thread.
Still, I think Anderson should avoid Rua. Unless he wants to give MMA fans a fight they'd really like to see.

No way that it would be an unpopular matchup, it's a headline-level fight if it were to happen, even if there were no belts on the line.

For the record, I've got Rua beating him 8 out of 10 times.

As above, the main reason to have fights of different weight classes is generally when there are no real challenges (whether true or just perceived) left for a fighter, not just because the fans want it. There is a pretty good supply of 205ers for Rua.

rh | This is pretty much why we will never see this fight. There is no way Soares sends his meal ticket into the Octagon with a guy like Shogun. I am shocked he let Machida fight him in a rematch after the first fight.
Honestly, is there any part of MMA that Anderson Silva is better then Shogun at? Even when it comes to striking, Shogun has an advantage. I really can not think of any category that Silva is better then Shogun in.

because casual fans dont know/like shogun because they are fucking retarded
EDIT:there is also no point to this fight because majority of people who know their shit would agree shogun would destroy silva gsp is smaller and is a weaker striker so i makes the matchup more interesting.

Besides the already mentioned reasons I'm going to throw another out there.
Silva wants no part of Rua because he knows he would lose. If Silva is willing to destroy a potential match with St. Pierre, a fighter over whom he would have a massive size advantage, then I see no indication he'd be willing to fight Rua a more dangerous opponents who's the same size as him.
