It looks like Rick Story will get his wish after he called out Thiago Alves shortly after both men won their respective fights in December. MMA Weekly with the report:
"Just found out I’ll be back inside of the cage in May! Great news to finish the year!" Alves Tweeted on Friday. In a follow up Tweet, he said that he didn’t know much about who he would face yet.
MMAWeekly.com sources, however, said that Alves is expected to fight Rick Story on May 28 at the UFC’s annual Memorial Day weekend event in Las Vegas.

Omg, Alves, stay away from wrestlers. He better have worked on his TDD, because if not, hes done for. I really think Story takes he UD.

Alves looked like a killer in that fight, I'm sure he'd drilled wrestling day and night since the fitch fight. If he loses another LNP fight, then I wouldn't know what to say.....

Great fight, the winner definitely will be near the top of the division with only having to fight maybe one more time to get a title shot.

This is a sick fight. Alves' stand up will be better than Story's, but the key to victory here will be wrestling. Is Alves TDD going to be good enough? Or will Story's takedown's be too much for him? If Alves can keep the fight on his feet and off the cage, then the fight is his.

I have been really impressed with Story. He won a very close hard fought decision vs Hendricks. Alves standup and conditioning looked amazing against Howard. Story isnt great on his feet but he is for sure now slowch. If Thiago fights like he did against Howard then I think he will win this fight.
Should be a great fight!!!

It's a big fight for Story, and I hope he wins, but I would have thought that after throwing Alves a C-level-bone for his last fight they'd be willing to match him up with someone who at least is on the fringes of top 10. He should be fighting Swick, or Hardy, or Hughes, or Paulo Thiago.
This is the kind of thing that kills me. Sure, Joe Silva "is playing chess while the other orgs are playing checkers," but to be honest, Joe Silva sucks at [metaphorical] chess. He just doesn't suck as badly as Coker. He's the thinnest kid at fat camp.
