Default Spencer Fisher vs. Ross Pearson official for UFC 127 in Australia

Spencer Fisher vs. Ross Pearson official for UFC 127 in Australia | MMAjunkie.com

Quote:
A lightweight bout between UFC veteran Spencer Fisher (24-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) and "The Ultimate Fighter 9" lightweight winner Ross Pearson (11-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) now is official for UFC 127.

MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) first reported the bout this past month, and UFC officials since have made it official.

UFC 127 takes place Feb. 27 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, and the night's main card airs on pay-per-view (on Feb. 26 in the U.S. due to time difference).

Fisher vs. Pearson, though, is slated for the untelevised preliminary card.

After a three-fight win streak in the UFC, which included wins over notables Caol Uno and Jeremy Stephens, Fisher dropped consecutive losses to Joe Stevenson and Dennis Siver. But he then signed a new UFC deal and got back in the win column with a unanimous-decision victory over Kurt Warburton in October at UFC 120.

He looks for his fifth win in five fights when he meets Pearson, who opened his UFC career with wins over Andre Winner, Aaron Riley and Siver (which earned a "Fight of the Night" bonus). But in his most recent bout, his four-fight win streak came to a halt with a submission loss to Cole Miller.

The full UFC 127 card includes:

MAIN CARD

Jon Fitch vs. B.J. Penn
Michael Bisping vs. Jorge Rivera
Dennis Siver vs. George Sotiropoulos
Carlos Condit vs. Chris Lytle
Chris Camozzi vs. Kyle Noke

PRELIMINARY CARD

Spencer Fisher vs. Ross Pearson
Alexander Gustafsson vs. James Te Huna
Riki Fukuda vs. Nick Ring
Maciej Jewtuszko vs. Curt Warburton
Tom Blackledge vs. Anthony Perosh

i cant even beleive how ridiculous this match up is as well as others on this card. the match ups make no sense. joe silva dropped the ball here but hey he put together 126 so ill give him a pass.

couldn't disagree with you more man. Fisher Pearson will be a great fight. Fisher likes to bang but is a submission wiz so don't be suprised to see a war that ends with a slick submission. BJ is still a hard mofo to take down and if he can't beat fitch he might as well go back to lw cause he still wouldn't stand a chance against gsp. Bisbing Jorge is going to be a pretty damn good fight with a decent chance for k.o. Denis Siver George is probably going to be a quick submission win and probably the best fight of the night could very well be condit lytle. Its going to be a SICK!! The only fight that I mentioned that has a chance to be boring is the BJ Fitch fight

Surprised to hear someone say that. This card seems pretty good, especially for one void of title fights. Also, I think Pearson Fischer should be on the main card, cause it will probably be more exciting than the co main event, and the main event as well if Fitch has anything to say about it.

Going to be a good brawl. Ross Pearson... who once said his striking is comparable to Penn's. Lets see how he does against "The King."

you honestly think pearson should be fighting fisher????? and sotiropolous vs siver??? your crazy man pearson beats siver so he gets a guy who siver beat and is basically about to be cut. siver gets the guy who is probably next in line for a title kjust cuz he beat winner...who pearson also beat.

not onyl that the fight makes no sense for sotiropolous either there are so many guys in the division ahead of siver who he should be facing. miller/george and siver/kamal makes perfect sense i dont see why they are doing it the other way around.

stupid i dont get it at all.

i think your talking in terms of exciting fights. im talking bout the matchups in terms of where the fighters stand in the division and title picture. jorge vs bisping is random as fuck bisping gains nothing from this fight in terms of the middleweight division.

bj/fitch is ok i guess but bj apparently isnt staying at welterweight so going from losing to a featherweight twice and then beating matt hughes(impressively btw) really shouldnt give him the 2nd best WW its really bj being used as a punishment for fitch so its also kind of a waste of a fight like in bispings case.

condit/lytle makes perfect sense and is awesome. no complaints about that one.

Yea im going to agree with IceCold on this. George shouldnt be fighting Siver and Pearson shouldn't be fighting Fisher.. the only match up I like on this card is the Condit vs Lytle fight. But besides that nothing here really catches my eye.
