What about the opposite? Does having an amazing, once in a life time moment on sportscenter hurt MMA cause when average joe tunes in and sees nothing like that they get bored. I think thats why we have all these booos at every event, the casuals are hungry for knockouts and have no idea what the sport is actually about.

i think having these mass appeal moments are good for the growth of the sport, but i think its a double-edged sword.

I'm glad it made the top ten plays of the year! It was well deserving of a spot on that list. To do it is one thing, but to land it successfully is amazing! One helluva way to go out in the final title fight of the WEC!

Good post dude, I never thought of it like that. I just kinda assumed that any coverage is good coverage but you got a point there.

you do realize that WEC is zuffa owned, generally viewed as ufc lite, and is absorbed into the ufc, that was the last fight under the wec banner, and even there one ppv was run by ufc guys even on commentary??

My point was it was 2 guys that are generally unknown to the non-MMA fans in an org that is NOT the UFC. Regardless if you and your family regard it as diet UFC it had nothing to do with what i said. I was commenting that I thought it was good that ESPN used a true highlight from two unknown fighters in a smaller org instead of just using a clip featuring Brock Lesnar gettin his face smashed.

no, what you were saying ill say something about mma over ufc and try to score points with the cool kids

me and my family (and corporations such as zuffa, and most of the posters on this board) link wec to ufc because, well there the same thing. same parent company.

as far as saying im glad it wasnt a clip of brock lesnar thats just retarded. espn is a sports network the highlights the best. why would they put something subpar on there network just because its ufc. theres no affiliation there. i cant help it you came off as not knowing zuffa was the parent company of ufc and wec and the fight was actually the merging of ufc and wec.

also, whats wrong with cains KO of lesnar??? you really dont think that was highlight reel worthy?? i thought it was a pretty good KO
