As Fighters Only reported previously, Jose Aldo Jr is hometown Manaus, Brazil Northen Region. This week the featherweight champion took part of a charity benefit event where he ‘fought’ with children and gathered food for the charity institution’s donation drive.

FO Brazilian staff Eduardo Cruz translated an interview in which Aldo spoke about Chael Sonnen’s trash-talk, idols in MMA and more. Check it out below, dear readers:

D24AM: What did you make of Chael Sonnen’s statement that Wanderlei Silva would be selling barbecue in Manaus if he weren’t in UFC?

Jose Aldo Jr: Coming from Sonnen... he is a clown who speaks so much junk. Speaks things that he couldn’t and doesn’t know. If he says it in front of an amazonense (native from Amazonas) it can create a problem. Blood boils.

Wanderlei already answered. I already was with Sonnen. He speaks for self-promotion but this is going beyond the point. This is bad for his image and damages our image. There (in the U.S.) they think there are only Indians and alligators in the streets [of Amazonia] but it is changing. You can’t write what Sonnen says. Let him speak [expletive]...

What fighters do you admire in MMA?

Always had many idols in my career and the first was Mike Tyson. In my beginning, I counted on the help of Pedro Rizzo and looked to fit my game seemed to his. After him, Rodrigo Ruas [veteran Marco Ruas’ brother], but today I like Anderson Silva so much and other countrymates as Mauricio Shogun and Lyoto Machida besides Minotauro and Minotouro Nogueira.

You come from a humble borough. How do you feel when you arrive where you were raised and the children call you idol?

I feel very well when I am in Alvorada with childhood friends. Many know how was the trajectory. In terms of children, I will always give example and encourage them to get where I am. I wish to do well and want them to get away from the criminality that exists in any suburb.

You hold a 20-1 scorecard. The loss was in Manaus. How do you see this situation?

I lost at the right time. I came off a good sequence of victories in England and Japan when I came to fight at Jungle Fight. That [loss] made me well. I was failing in the training and the defeat put myself on spot. I made a balance and focused even more.

The UFC Octagon is bigger that WEC’s. Are you already adapted?

That’s true. It really is bigger. The preparation does not change much. It’s like in soccer, you play in fields of several sizes. We’re in constant evolution. I fought in a little tatame and then went to the rings. I passed in WEC and now I am in UFC.

The wanna be steroid monster Sonnen is a real lightweight with limited talents. He might very well luck out and win a title some day, but he will never be able to defend it. This is what separates real champs who are remembered for their many defenses and the chumps who only want to borrow the title for a few months. Chael is not only a world class dick, but a born loser who will never know what it is like to win a title, defend a title and be respected for it....you need all three to be a true champ.

1.- Last time I checked, Sonnen is not exactly a lightweight.

2.- So decide yourself, will he be lucky to win a title or he will never know what is it to win a title?

3.- Moderators may give you a warning because you are saying that Sonnen is a loser, a dick, a wannabe steroid, a small dick etc. That is kinda fighter bashing

I agree with Jose Aldo, Sonnen definitely speaks way too much about things he does not know at all.

what a completey ingorant post. chael didnt do steroids and the CSAC basically said we fucked up and changed the suspension to 'failure to disclose medical treatment.

he also won two national championshis in greco so he does know what it like to be a champion.

and how do you think he will 'luck his way inot a title? if he does win the middleweight division has a huge drop off after silva so his challenger would be an easier fight so how would he not be able to defend it?

haha you're one to talk about fighter bashing. Unless it's Fedor you're always bashing on fighters. You really need to just go away for ever.

Sonnen is a clown. He's basically making racial comments and bashing an entire country. You should have some respect for a country that produces endless amounts of fighters and is responsible for a MAJOR aspect of mma.
