Although it might be time for him to start considering retirement, an emotional Baroni, who will celebrate his 35th birthday in April and is 0-2 in his most recent UFC stint told Ariel Helwani backstage last night that he expects to be fired by the Vegas-based promotion. He says that he will continue to compete, because this is what he does and he doesn't know anything else. The WWE would be lucky to have a character like "The New York Badass," and Baroni's wife would be lucky to not see her husband take any more head trauma.

I'm not gonna lie some of the post-fight interviews with guys that suffered a heartbreaking loss that is potentially career ending with the organization they love have made me kinda get choked up myself.
I wish Phil Baroni the best and he is still 1 of my favorite all around guys in the sport, as he always will be.

I like Baroni. I know he puts on the whole "New York Badass" persona where he kinda acts like a prick, but he seems like a pretty good guy. He looked like he was in great shape and things were really going his way for awhile. Sad to see him lose, hopefully the UFC gives him another shot. All the best for Phil in whatever direction his career goes.
I like Baroni and I didn't want to see him lose. I have a feeling he will get cut but man I hope now. I have to agree that he put off that NYBA persona but he seems like a good guy. This was a heartbreaking interview
I was never a big fan of his, but it is really sad seeing him in this state. Poor dude has had one of the roughest careers despite all the effort he puts in. If only guys like Paulo Filho, Brock Lesnar, or Ricco Rodriguez had the same kind of heart and desire he has. Phil's only attribute is that he is tough and hits hard, too bad he never could win the big ones because he obviously wants it more than most.

I feel really bad for Baroni! I love watching him fight. He always brings it and doesnt have any quit in him. I hope the UFC gives him another shot, I really do.
I love how every other poster so far has professed their admiration for baroni, and here you are saying that you hate him
Those people say they like him now because they see him humbled after getting his ass kicked over and over. And they think thats the real him. I dont think thats the real him at all. Hes not humble and hes not a new york badass either. The real baroni is a selfish, delusional scumbag. Who thinks hes supposed to get everything. And now hes crying like a bitch because hes not. Its easy to be humble when you lose, try being humble when you win (if he can remember that far back). I know carbon copies of phil baroni. Hes a piece of shit. He deserves to be cleaning toilets for a living. I cant wait til hes officially cut.
