Phil Baroni Released From UFC Following Loss at UFC 125 | MMAWeekly.com
Quote:
The second time was not the charm for Phil Baroni.

The heavy hitting New Yorker was released from the UFC on Monday following his UFC 125 loss to Brad Tavares over the weekend.

Baroni’s manager Ken Pavia confirmed his release to MMAWeekly.com on Monday. Versus.com originally reported his release.

The loss brought Baroni’s career record to 13-13, while dropping his last two fights in the UFC. It was his second stint with the promotion.

Overall during his UFC career, Baroni went 3-7 in the Octagon. Baroni started with the UFC in 2001, left the promotion and fought in several other shows before returning in 2009.

His release while not unexpected brings Baroni’s latest chapter with the UFC to a close, but he does plan to keep fighting and working his way back to a major show in the future.
Well no surprise here.

Its not really funny. He fights to support his family and then loses his job. That sucks. I actually could see him back after 1 or two wins especially when the injury bug hits.

Sucks to see him go but... Idk how in blue hell was he still fighting in the UFC with his record.

He can surely find a ton of small promotions to take him on and if not...he looks like a pro wrestler/one of those guys from Mortal Kombat with the red hoods who gets frozen by Subzero.

I will admit I do generally find Baroni tears very tasty indeed.

He spent far too long whining, running his mouth and gassing after 30 seconds for me to take him seriously as a top tier fighter.

He looked good...fought well...but when he first got hit and did that chicken dance....that move that like Rick Flair does after he gets hit...like a stumble on the spot...when that happened (and he smiled at Brad Taveres) I knew he was done and wouldn't get to stay in the UFC.

I mean I really enjoy watching Baroni and have for years, but he is punch drunk. I would like to see him fight on smaller cards against lesser opponents...or go back to Japan...but any hope of him continuing with the UFC is done.

I enjoyed his commentary back at Rumble on the Rock, but I don't see him doing that at the UFC. Wish they had a job for him....I don't see him as a coach or anything....it will be nice to see what he does next.
