| Dun Dun Dun! Jacob Volkmann gets a visit from, wait for it, the Secret Service Quote:
UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann, following his win over Antonio McKee, declared that he wanted to fight U.S. President Barack Obama for his next bout. His words got him a visit from the Secret Service on Tuesday.
Volkmann, who is based out of Minnesota, told MMAFighting.com after his win over McKee that he wanted to face Obama because he disagreed with many of his policies.
Well, if anyone ever wondered if a potential threat against the President goes unnoticed, you just got your answer.
“It happened on Tuesday, I was coaching youth practice yesterday, last night, and then two guys came up and one of the other coaches that was helping me out, they said there was a cop and another guy out there waiting for me. I went out there and the guy introduced himself and said he was from the Secret Service and he wanted to ask me some questions about UFC 125 and my quote. He said there were people calling into D.C. telling them that somebody, me, threatening the President,” Volkmann told MMAWeekly.com.
The Secret Service showed up at both his residence and during his youth wrestling camp to interview him about the potential threat made to the President.
The interview was a formal process due to any potential threat made against the President, and Wednesday’s investigation should be close of the matter. The reason for the investigation wasn’t because of the original interview Volkmann did however, but because people alerted the authorities about a ‘threat’ that was made.
“This guy had the whole interview on a piece of paper and it had my picture and everything,” said Volkmann. “He was like ‘is this what you said?’ and I said yes it is. He’s like ‘I want to let you know I’m a little embarrassed for coming here and doing this because obviously nothing happened’. He actually apologized for coming, but he had to come. He wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to D.C to hurt the President.
“The thing is I got home and I checked my e-mail and I had about 20 e-mails and one of them, one of ladies had actually contacted the FBI and the Secret Service, and she was telling me that she was going to do it.”
The person who contacted Volkmann, according to the fighter, was a member of the election committee that worked for President Obama’s campaign.
Volkmann was successful in his fight at UFC 125, and also mentioned a possible future fight against Clay Guida. It appears that one is much more likely than the Obama confrontation.
The Minnesota based fighter who is also a chiropractor wanted to clarify the statements he made in the original interview as well, because he says that was the reason most people seemed upset with him in the first place.
“People were misunderstanding the point of view I was going for with the health care plan. That’s why they were getting so upset. I’m thinking about the provider, I’m a chiropractor, so I’m thinking about my point of view, not everyone getting insurance and they don’t have to worry about getting denied, which is good I guess. Just not good for health care providers,” said Volkmann.
Still happy he spoke his mind, Volkmann says the Secret Service considers the matter closed at this point.

Hahaha! Oh dear, you couldn't make this sh*t up. This is just one more reason why the USA is such a caricatured country in films and tv, and by comedians, because things like this could ONLY happen in the US.

Let me get this straight.....
A person makes a report to the FBI and USSS that they were witness to a threat against the President of the United States. In response to what was reported to them as a legitimate threat, they send out an investigator who simply verifies what we already knew (That it wasn't a legitimate threat) just like a cop who responds to a BS report of any kind and people are criticizing it????
Personally, I'm glad someone responded to the woman's report. However, the woman making the report needs to fuck off.

Instead, you and I pay for someone to go track him down and interview him to confirm that he is just a (relatively) harmless white guy who struggles to finish fights.

I would generally agree, but the definition by law goes as such: Quote:
First: That the person uttered words alleged to be the threat against the President;
Second: That the person understood and meant the words he used as a true threat; and
Third: That the person uttered the words knowingly and willfully. | The investigator conducted the interview to satisfy the second requirement of the threat law 18 USC 871.
I'm still fine with it.

The secret service could have just called the UFC and got video of the "threat". Would have saved time and money.
