LAME. It's true his record has taken a bit of a hit recently but can you seriously say Davis doesn't have a handful of great potential match-ups left in the UFC? I'd understand if it was a rookie with potential & attempting to light a fire under his ass but God Damn, he's probably not that far off from retirement - give the dude a few more barn-burners and a chance to call it on his own terms. I understand business decisions are just that, but this motherfucker has done some serious good for the company and IMO deserves a little more loyalty. His involvement in previous PPVs has tipped the decision for me to shell out money more than once. Of course you can't keep everyone and their mother whose put on a good show in the past, but I cry foul here.......ANGRY!!!

Davis and Vera will instantly mix things up in whatever organization they go to... both of theese men have the potential to make or break a card all on their own..Whereever they end up im sure they'll be making just as much money and be more appreciated for what they do to every card they are on! I really hope Marcus dont hang em up..

sucks and i hate it, i dont like it, but i think we all pretty much saw it coming.
i dont want him in strikeforce. i cant stand the way that operation is run. id like to see him end up in bellator. true, i dont think he is much of a match up for alverez. but he cant put on much worse showing that huerta did. can he??
id like to see vera in bellator as well. same reasons, im not a strikeforce fan. yea yea yea i know he probably has much better match ups in strikeforce but seriously how often does strikeforce give us those kind of match ups. once a year???
i could also see either davis or vera, or for that matter even jardine coming back sooner than expected as an injury replacement. more so with jardine and davis although vera in the right match up.

Same with Jardine if he learns how to fight again

another guy i hate to see go, but this was expected. marcus was always game, but i hear retirement is in his plans. i hope he doesn't retire as he could add a lot to strikeforce's lightweight division (or even welterweight division). then again, he's been in a lot of wars and like they say, you can have your button pressed so many times.

Shitty cuts recently. First Gerald Harris and now Vera AND Marcus Davis. All of these guys deserved another shot given their abilities and in the case of the two latter, their histories with the org.
I get the fact that it's business and they have a slew of new fighters given the merger, but at least keep Marcus around to fight a new up n' comer. Sheesh.

Marcus could enter Bellator's LW tourny and torch some guys, that would be fun.

Davis was definitely the more skilled fighter, but there's something to be said for youth and athleticism. I think Davis failing to try to stop the fight had a lot to do with it; when he tied up Stephens after wobbling him badly it was totally screwed up.

When Stephens started doing the funky chicken after that left hook in the first he was WIDE open for a left uppercut. I have no idea why Davis decided to clinch against the cage instead. If he'd gone in for the kill he'd probably still have a job.
I'm more disappointed for Marcus than Vera. I had him winning the first and third rounds until he ducked into a murderous right hand that he didn't see coming. I still feel he could be a great asset for the UFC at 155, much more so than Vera who has never really lived up to his potential.
