Why does it matter,I think all the WEC champs should of been given a title unification match, just like Hendo was for his PRIDE belts.

Pettis and Henderson definetively top 5 fighters in the world, specially Pettis. WEC also got Cerrone probably top ten in world and some prospects guys like Belahrous, also the 145 champ Aldo can go up in 155 and be very competetive against ufc 155ers.
And comparing Hendo u gotta be kidding, hendo was Pride champ, it had bigger and stronger roaster then ufc had in 185 and 205 divisions, before ufc brought all those guys to ufc except hwt fedor. It made absolute sense hendo got title at that time.

alota good fights out for him | I agree man. I think that it's most likely (im putting my neck out here) that he'll face either Soto or Dunham (mainly because im predicting theyll win their fights). Both of those guys are getting extremely close to a shot, and a win over Pettis would certainly put them right up there in line for Maynard/Edgar. The 155 division is heating upppp!

Maybe Melvin (probably too soon of a turnaround), Shalorus, or Siver will have to pull out. Talk about a high profile fill-in!

| Anthony Pettis Isn't Waiting... MMA News - Anthony Pettis Plans To Fight Instead Of Waiting For Title Shot Quote:
A draw between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard through a wrench in the plans of the UFC and Anthony Pettis who was sitting in wait to see who would walk away the UFC Lightweight Champion and who he would face next but with Maynard and Edgar now set for a rematch, Pettis' manager Mike Roberts tells MMAWeekly.com that his fighter will continue to fight:
"Anthony was obviously disappointed in not getting the title shot, but he also understands why Dana made that decision," Roberts said. "After consulting with Anthony and Duke Roufus, we collectively decided that it would be in Anthony's best interest to take a fight in the meantime.
"A 10-month or possible year layoff was just too long. We believe with a win against a top lightweight contender Anthony will still get the title shot later in the year".
Meanwhile, Pettis tells Dave Meltzer that he wants top competition:
"I only want to face guys at the top - George Sotiropoulos, Clay Guida, Jim Miller, [Sean] Sherk, anybody that makes sense," said Pettis. "I don't want to fight someone who isn't high level. If I fight, I think I've earned fighting the best guys."
| I like watching him fight, and I'm glad he'll fight rather than take the layoff...
But what are the implications for a unification bout should he lose?
IMO, he deserved a fight against Edgar after the Maynard/Edgar draw. If he lost to Edgar, then have Edgar/Maynard 3, if he beat Edgar, then Maynard / Edgar 3 could have been for the title shot...
Having Pettis fight before the winner of Edgar/Maynard 3 is crowned is pretty risky business for the UFC... What's the point of a unification bout if the WEC champ just lost to a guy who wasn't in title contention...?
Pettis wants to fight top guys, but I'm guessing they give him someone suited to his style... Maybe Lauzon or Stout?

Guida's a dangerous grinder, but I think Pettis takes it... Hell of a fight fer sure.
He could eat up Gomi, if the UFC feels like handing Gomi his papers...

miller or george makes most sense. guys like sherk, guida and dunham are not a fight away from a title shot so it wouldnt make much sense for him to fight those guys.

I strongly believe the UFC should scrap the Miller/Shalorus fight and Give pettis miller for number one contender seeing as Sot's actually took the lesser man in Siver long before this bullshit bout with Miller was announced
