Shane Carwin: "I Would Be Honored to Train with Fedor" | MMA Videos and News

Fedor Emelianenko wants to possibly train stateside, telling Middleeasy.com that he would prefer to train with “someone like Shane Carwin” for the upcoming Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix. It’s not clear as to if Carwin would make the trip to Russia as Fedor certainly prefers to train in his home country or if Fedor would be willing to come across the pond.

In any instance Shane Carwin told MMA-Scraps.com that it would be an honor to train with the legendary Emelianenko.

I would be honored to train with Fedor. I feel like I have so much to learn and training with great people and great fighters at the same time seems like a win win.

It will be interesting to see how this develops, Fedor is one of those fighters that likes to keep his training partners “in house” so to speak. He has always trained with close friends and for the most part he has been enormously successful keeping this style of preparation.

i don't really understand why he wants to train with shane.. there are a lot better people to help prepare for the sf tourney. i can really see this benefiting shane more so than fedor, but apparently fedor sees something i don't.

who does shane train with?

Well if Fedor wants to train with Shane its maybe because he sees something special in carwin.

He probably will practice takedowns on him, because Shane is very very strong and hard to take down, and so will be Overeem. I personally think Fedor is thinking more about Overeem than about BigFoot.

shane trains at greg jackson and shane is probably size and strength wise the guy closest to being able to mimick overeem's style.

Well, seein' as how I made a "The Edge" joke the first time this came up, naturally I feel pressured to throw out another cinema reference, if only there was a movie about a monster killer fighter who kicks ass for three minutes fullboar and then gases.....

I agree size and raw power would probably be why Fedor would really want to train with Shane. He can't mimic AO's stand up but Shane would be much harder to take down.

Taking it with a grain of salt. He could just be throwing out an example and nothing more. But I guess we'll see what happens in the near future.

If Fedor is getting ready for the Strikeforce tourney training with Carwin makes sense. He hits like a train and he is a big dude. It is a good move for Carwin as well
