Default Joey Beltran is Not Cool With His Loss to Pat Barry Saturday Night

http://www.cagepotato.com/joey-beltr...saturday-night

Quote:
When Pat Barry left Joey Beltran laying in a heap barely able to get up at the end of their heavyweight scrap on Saturday night, choosing Beltran as the winner of the bout seemed like an unlikelihood unless you were Cecil Peoples.

It depends on who you ask, I guess.

According to Fight Metric, "The Mexecutioner" landed more punches in the bout even if they were ineffective for the most part. Beltran is of the opinion that he did enough to win and that besides the unintentional eye poke he took in the third round which led to a just stoppage, referee Mario Yamasaki all but cost him the fight by calling for breaks and restarts when the two fighters seemed to be stalling on the cage and by stopping the fight when Beltran had an advantageous position when Pat claimed to be kicked in the berries.

He also says that besides some soreness and a slight limp, his legs which were tenderized for the better part of their 15-minute bout by Barry were no worse for the wear and that he worked out this afternoon. Beltran said that the eye poke, whether intentional or not left him with a handicap to finish the fight.

Knowing Pat and what kind of sportsmanship he has, if I had to wager a guess, I'd say that he didn't want to finish the fight with a KO considering the blowback he would have gotten for finishing Joey with head shots when he claimed he couldn't see properly, which would explain why he turned his focus to leg kicks to close out the third round.

Here's what an obviously disgruntled Joey had to say about what went down Saturday night.

I still think Beltran won the 1st and 2nd round. No questions asked. His leg looks perfectly fine. Anybody remember Urijah's leg the day after?

His picture made me no longer a fan. He collapsed at the end of the fight, he didn't do enough to win

Man, to be honest I thought the decision was going to go his way, but wasn't surprised that Barry got the win. Joey's clinch work against the cage just wasn't enough. I'm sorry, but random punches and foot stomps aren't going to win the fight, nor were those active throughout the whole clinch. He shouldn't be surprised there.

It's a tough loss to swallow, but c'mon man, you lost and there is no one to blame but yourself in this circumstance. He had Barry on his heels more than once, but couldn't capitalize on it. This just sound like excuses to me, and I'm not convinced that is actually what his leg looks like. His leg was swollen and welted up during the fight, that doesn't go away over the weekend. Move on, learn from this and come back better is all you can do after a close decision like that.

More whine anyone? You have enough whine sir? Your glass has been filled by "The Mexecutioner" you say?

I'm sorry the guy just didnt put together much in the way of effective offence.

He threw combos and he held him against the cage but none of that was effective in doing....well anything.

The major damage was done by Pat and despite the eye poke, the leg kicks were landing plentifully before that.

As far as getting him in the berries, there were two pretty solid knees to the nuts against the cage which were far more deliberate or, even taking my sceptical glasses off for a second, were reckless at best.

The man who tried to finish the fight, and who scored the most damaging strikes won in my humble opinion.

I agree Pat won the fight.

Meh

Neither guy impressed me much. Pat needs killer instinct, and Beltran needs leg kick checks, and hip rotation on his punches. The guy is all arms

But if Beltran wasn't happy about his loss Saturday, he shouldn't of collapsed in a pile against the cage when the fight ended

He got robbed in my opinion. He was busier, and won the boxing, clinch and worked hard for takedowns. All Barry did was throw leg kicks and make bored faces. Barry didnt look like he gave a shit. Should have been 29-28 Beltran.

Rematch then? Let these guys go at it for another 3 rounds and see what happens. Still not sure there was a clear winner in this fight so do it again boys. Beltran's leg doesn't look like the one after the fight with Barry but who knows, the internet is a wonderful thing for posting pictures. I think a rematch between these two actually makes sense.

HOSS-Bork, you should spend more time brushing up on your MMA history, and less time complementing guys on how young their penises taste.

Agree whole heartedly they both know the mistakes they made, and niether one is up for title contention. So do it again the fans will love it especially if they make it a war.

Yes falling to the ground at the end and showing a hard and painfull it was to get up didn't help his case. If he would of landed a takedown in two rounds then I would of give it to him for also being the busier fighter, but Berry threw the more damaging shots
