Despite all this, I keep telling myself, "ok, this is Daley... Nick will get knocked out this time... right?"
Disclaimer: I'm a Nick Diaz fan. |
EVERYONE, especially Paul Daley overvalues his striking. Diaz has rocks in his head and takes a phenomenal punch...and thats if you can even hit him. And once he does get hit...His biggest concern isn't separating himself from consciousness, it's making sure he isn't split open and in danger of the Dr. stopping the fight. Daley's explosive bursts with his combos aren't going to be able to touch Diaz. I see Diaz sitting back and picking him apart with his punches. Diaz's movement is going to be the difference here. And if Diaz does get in trouble, I don't know what Paul Daley is smoking but Diaz will get him to the ground. I just don't think Daley is anywhere near the level of Diaz....I'd have to say after GSP....Shields... and Fitch...Diaz is probably the next best ww in MMA today. Thats a whole other discussion though...
As for Daley...wellllp...he's 4 for 7 in actually MAKING weight his last 7 fights....
And...
He is literally a one-trick pony fighting a guy who doesn't get knocked out and is one of the most well rounded fighters in the sport...
With the exception of Shields...This is Daley's toughest challenge to date...
That being said I say after a round of Daley being jabbed, Diaz wins in Rd 2 via any submission he wants because he is fighting Paul Daley
