Strikeforce's heavyweights have left big shoes to fill.
The California-based promotion's most recent offering on Showtime, "Strikeforce: Feijao vs Henderson," averaged 412,000 viewers.
That's a 44 percent decline in average viewership compared to the record-shattering numbers of "Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Silva," which hosted the first quarterfinal matchups of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix.
MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) today confirmed the numbers with an industry source.
"Strikeforce: Feijao vs Henderson" took place this past Saturday at Nationwide Arena, in Columbus, Ohio, and aired live on Showtime. The event drew a reported attendance of 7,123. Bellator 35 debut nets 200,000 viewers, massive increases in key MTV2 demos | MMAjunkie.com
Bellator's season-four debut event netted 200,000 viewers for MTV2's live broadcast, and the immediate replay maintained 63.5 percent of the original audience with 127,000 fans tuning in.
Most importantly, the figures represented a massive increase in key demographics for the cable channel.
MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) has learned from industry sources that Bellator 35's ratings viewership represented an 83 percent increase in men ages 18 to 49 years old, 80 percent rise in men ages 18 to 34 years old and a whopping 133 percent increase in men ages 25 to 34 years old.

And the Strikeforce ratings are on par with other events, just a decrease from the HW tourny.

Not really a suprise to me. Bellator puts on a great show, the production the fights all very well put togther. Plus MTV2 comes normal with the Dish network, and you have to pay for showtime.

I dont think it is much of a suprise StrikeForces numbers were low this PPV. It didnt really have the drawing power of the HW tourney show.
MTV2 will do well for Bellator, also, tourneys always seem to be very popular

good find sakara as always. | SF got more then twice the amount of viewers as Bellator on a Premium channel. I don't see how you get Bellator passing SF from this article.

Bellator will always be a #3 sized promotion but they are fine with that and will be in business long after these upstarts who try to take over the world.

It is not surprise at all.
SF´s last event was not that exciting in paper, the april show will have much better ratings and the show with the second quarterfinals will be even better.
For me this last show was one of the most lacklusters Sf has done lately.

Coker and staff are all over the place. They don't know how to manage their fighter on their roster or their tittle shots. Dose anyone disagree with me on that? I bet I could get a tittle shot in strikeforce and I'm havent even gone pro yet.( that was a joke by the way) The next thing is look at how Bellator runs their shows. Its very well organized and a good quality event for the roster of fighters they have. It might take a little longer then the time line then I said but if strikeforce get get their S%^T together bellator will pass them and take the number 2 spot. The MTV2 deal is the first step in that process

Its deffinetly the big boys bringing in the audience, more pressure for SF to pull this tourny off. Its obvious that people are interested in this, more then their LHW championship fight anyways. And if they can pull it off without any major hiccups it would only help SF.
With that said, WTF are they gonna without a named HW on every card? SF only has so much talent at the other weight classes. And its obvious that their isnt much intrest in the talent they ALREADY have at every other weight but HW.
(Im assuming this by the 44% decrease from the HW card, I mean shit even 7,000 attendance is pretty shitty considering it was a LHW Title fight.)
