Fedor Considering Move to 205, Willing to Fight Dan Henderson - Bloody Elbow

Sources close to the Russian say he is giving serious consideration to the prospect of fighting newly crowned Dan Henderson at 205 pounds.

The prospect of the fight was put to him by Strikeforce before the weekend’s Henderson/Feijao showdown.

Negotiations are underway and - if past experience is anything to go by - are likely to go on for some time. But the fight is of interest to all parties and is likely to happen later this year.

I don't know about giving a guy with two straight losses a shot at a title, even if it is Fedor. I mean damn, what is this....Strikeforce? Oh wait, it is? Ok, nevermind then...

I still think Dan will win... he will have a better gas tank and he's not dumb enough to get hit with Fedor's flailing hands... Dan doesn't exactly have a weak chin either

Dan Henderson has also expressed an interest in this fight so maybe it will actually happen.

“To me, he’s not the reason I signed with Strikeforce just to fight him… although that is interesting and appealing to me to be able to challenge myself against him,” said Henderson in a recent interview with Sherdog. “I don’t know who else wants to fight him, but I do know the fans like to see him fight. He’s very effective and likes to finish guys and does a very good job. I think him and I would make an interesting matchup.”

But like previously mentioned, kind of a joke to have someone coming off 2 loses straight into a title shot. Fedor should have to fight and win first but then the time line would be off.

I wonder if this is a better idea than having him as a replacement for the tourney he has already been disqualified from. Kind of takes away from the credibility of the HW tournament. ... I know, I know there is no credibility to SF's match making.

But this would be a great move of Hendersons part.. leaves the UFC to get big pay days, another title in a major organization and possibly earn a win over Fedor which would be much more than he would have accomplished in the UFC in the same time frame.

This is definitely one of the more interesting matchups for SF. Other than Fedor/AO this is the only Fedor fight that interests me. That being said, I don't think it would ever happen. I can't see Fedor dropping to 205. He's never had to cut weight before, so I can't imaging him being willing/able to do it now.
