I'm leaning towards BBG's way of thinking on this one. Maynard is the number 2 (some would say number one) LW in the UFC. He's also GIGANTIC (note use of caps for emphasis), very strong, and a decent boxer in his own right. While Mendes has been very impressive lately (his winning by UD is meaningless to me given the way he's doiminated his opposition) he's still no Maynard, or even a Sherk (the two wrestlers who have given KenFlo the most problems).

The height and reach advantage is significant if Kenny wants to jab his way to victory. But the threat of the takedown will negate his best weapon (his leg/body kicks) and may reduce his offensive capability. He'll certainly be looking to use his jab as often as possible, and try to time his overhand right when Mendes comes in (a la the Guida fight) to try and KO him or soften him up for a sub/TKO.

Still, even though he's a black belt in BJJ Kenny hasn't shown himself to be a threat off his back in the UFC. If he can get past the jab I can see Chad taking him down and grinding out a decision for 15 minutes. That should be his gameplan, because he probably doesn't want to mess with Kenny's standup if he doesn't have to.

I'd quite like to see this fight. It's reasonably evenly matched, at least in my mind.

Rule 3: NEVER attempt to mediate in a flame-war between GSP and BJ Penn nuthuggers debating GSP/Penn II. It won't end well.

Let me make it even clearER. If Kenny were fighting a fucking 185 lb ape that cuts down like Maynard to 155lbs again, then yes he would get mauled. Simply becasue P4P Mendes is a much better fighter than both of them. He (florian) is clearly entering a match with a guy who he has three advantages over. One Size, two experience, and three much better boxing.

Much better, and thanks, lol. Still, though, Mendez will wreck Florian. Also, I find it rather disgusting that a dude wants other dudes to hop on their pole. What a brokeback @#$%&!

i used to be in one of the front cars on the Florian train but that was well over a year ago... since then i have been turned off by his recent fights and i dont see the fighter i used to.. that being said even the old Kenny couldnt beat Mendes.. styles make fights and as long as Kenny faces a strong wrestling base he will have problems... thats it

but the whole UD/domination discussion i mean just because you arent finishing your fights doesnt mean youre not murdering them... i mean i looked at Kos, Fitch x2, Alves, all as murder that went 5 rounds.. Mendes uses so much energy with all of his movement on the feet it would be hard not to get gassed.. think of how much work it would take to sustain that at 5 rounds..

on a side note... i really love these smaller divisions.. its like watching wrestling when it goes from heavyweight to 103 everything is soo much faster and more eventful.. scrambles with such skilled athletes at these lower weights is sooo much fun to watch
