Anthony Johnson and Dan Hardy Plan to Swing Until Someone Drops
3/21/2011 6:41 PM ET By Mike Chiappetta
If you like a good old-fashioned throwdown, make sure you're on the couch on Saturday night when Dan Hardy and Anthony Johnson get set to do work in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 24.
Considered two of the UFC welterweight division's biggest punchers, the two virtually guaranteed that every moment of the fight would be filled with stand-up action, until one of them is no longer able to stand.
"I'm not planning to go to the ground with Anthony," Hardy told MMA Fighting during a teleconference. "I'm planning to send him down on his own."
Johnson felt even more strongly about the chances of seeing any grappling or groundwork.
"Hell, no. This fight ain't going to the ground," he said. "You're talking to two guys who love to bang, plain and simple. We don't like that lovey-dovey stuff, we want to keep it on the feet, give everybody what they want, what they pay their money for."
The fight involves some potentially big stakes; Hardy is on a two-fight losing streak while Johnson will be fighting for the first since a Nov. 2009 submission loss to Josh Koscheck. Given the deep welterweight talent pool, the loser risks being left behind if not cut altogether.

Just going to watch for the fun of seeing someone going to sleep! | Johnson needs to go on the same diet Alves is on. The dolce diet. Its the only way he can cut that much weight and still have any sort of gastank.

As for your signature. Yes, I think Diego won that fight. I've seen guys look all kinds of messed up and win fights... haven't you? It was a close fight and I could see it going either way but Diego clearly won the second round and nobody did anything in the third but Diego was the one moving forward and pressing the fight so I'd give him the third and the fight.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this fight and hopefully it'll be a war.

Not taking anything away from him, he's a very talented fighter but "He always comes to fight and make things entertaining and he's doing it at the top of his sport" doesn't equal top 10 status.

Anyone ranking Hardy as a top 10 WW is overrating him.
AJ is an idiot if he doesn't take it to the ground--not because Hardy is a better striker, but because Johnson has far, far, far better grappling and should use the edge he's got to get closer to a ranked status.
And yes, he needs to make weight.

Look at the stats dude if you miss something like 11 out 12 TDs and you get busted up then you normally loose the fight. But that is not the point of this thread, so dont troll on my sig

Only way Hardy is a top ten is if there are about 25 fighters in the top ten and that would be impossible. Hardy might be a top 25 fighter. Might be...

I'm still waiting to see this KO power that Hardy allegedly has. Johnson we know has KO power and we also know that Hardy can be knocked out. I would love here for a double ko as I'm not entirely happy with either one however I think that this is Johnson's fight to win or lose. If he comes out swinging he can catch Hardy and ko him but if he doesn't before he likely gases again it's going to be a decision victory for Hardy. Wouldn't it be cool to see Johnson sub Hardy?
Johnson by round 1 tko
