I feel Rashad on this. However, as an elder statesman on the team, it was incumbent upon him to address the comments Jones made PRIVATELY and directly to Jones. Instead, Rashad gave into machismo bullshit and declared he "wasn't no punk". Now we have the situation we're in.
As on top of it as I think and believe Jones is, he's still only 23. Lots of room to grow: mentally, physically, emotionally and intellectually.

So let me get this straight, Jackson's is going to crumble because Rashad and possibly Jardine are leaving? You don't see GSP whining about Condit talking about wanting to fight him for the title. I can't even think of Jackson making a comment about that at all. I know that GSP doesn't train soley out of Jackson's but still. I really don't think that the leaving (dramatically) of Rashad is going to cause that team to begin to suck.

sooooo...trying to sort this out in my head, and I'm struggling.
The guy who grabbed his balls during the Forrest Griffin fight is actually complaining about not being respected?
...and people are taking him seriously?

Rashad wont be the one to defeat Jones, but I hope he atleast lets him know he was there to fight that night. Sad to see a damn good camp get ripped apart over petty bullshit. |
While I don't think Rashad will win, I kind of wonder if he has a better chance than most of the other LHWs since he has worked with Jones so many times, he probably has seen most of what Jones has to offer and will not be like most fighters having no clue what Jones is going to do next. If Rashad was getting dominated in practice by Jones, like Jones dominated Hamill, Shogun, Vera etc, I can't picture Rashad being that keen to fight, he must think he has a pretty good shot of winning (although pride, anger and ego can do funny things to a persons perceptions).
That being said, the fact that Rashad was badly rocked and almost KOed in his last 2 fights and koed in his 3rd last fight makes me think that even if he could outwrestle Jones for a round or two (which I kind of doubt), eventually he is going to get rocked by that 84.5 inch reach.

UFC isn't going to fire anyone because they are turning down fights.
| Now, if I get paid to hammer nails and I tell my boss, I won't hammer those nails... Then I get fired. If you are a fighter and you turn down fights why shouldn't you be fired?
They may not fire you flat out on the spot for it, but I'm sure, by doing this, it puts you on the "as soon as you F up you are fired" list.

rh | I don't. I have always thought Rashad was full of shit. I refuse to buy into this fake assed persona that he is selling to everyone.
