| Sanchez VS St. Pierre compelling
That would be a great fight but ultimately a learning experience for Sanchez as St. Pierre is sure to take him to school. Pierre looks to be unbeatable with his versatility and his dynamic fighting style while Sanchez has shown to be somewhat one dimensional with the exception of the Riggs fight. l know that Diego's ferocity and heart matched with Pierre's all around superb ability would prove that while the heavyweights get the big PPV draws, the welterweight division is the best in the world............ |

I don't remember how long is required medically after a knockout, but if it's long enough, plus a tune-up fight for Hughes, it seems doubtful that the rematch would take place in April. More likely later in the year.
Also, it's rumored that there will be a UFC event in Ohio sometime this year. Complete speculation, but I imagine that would be a much more comfortable environment for Hughes to fight GSP than in Canada. Could be to his advantage to push the fight back to secure a home-court advantage, if you will. | i didn't hear anything from matt's camp since he lost, but i remember him personally saying before he lost that if he lost he'd wanna build his way back to the title. GSP's definitely not fighting at the Ohio event since thats in march and GSP's set to defend in february and april. i just hope this is true since i don't think hughes deserves the immediate rematch and diego definitely deserves a shot.

I don't think he'd beat GSP, but that's not really an argument for saying that he doesn't deserve his shot. I don't know, I wouldn't really argue that he doesn't deserve one, but I just don't feel like he's ready yet.
I would also hate to have to watch GSP dismantle Serra, who is fairly one-dimensional, then turn around and fight Diego, who is still pretty one-dimensional. I would not really be that hyped for either of those fights.

I do re-call Diego saying right before the Karo fight that he had 5 or 6 fights left on his contract. He did mention in the interview that he did not want a title fight until his contract was up, and did say that pay was the main reason and does not want to be taken advantage of. Looks like him being a TUF winner is now coming back and bitting him in the ass......'PIZ'

NOTE: This show, originally set to be headlined by Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Hughes and then by St. Pierre vs. Diego Sanchez, has been postponed. The UFC will still be holding a PPV event in April, but it will not be in Canada. The UFC Welterweight Title picture is now up in the air, pending the results of the fights in February and March.
