And if they had a lot of trouble finding sponsosrs and money and all that its understandable, John Cena and the WWE actors are way more popular worldwide than Fedor. |
The Marine Movie Reviews, Pictures - Rotten Tomatoes
69 percent of the audience liked The Marine according to rotten tomatoes.
12 Rounds was much better than the Marine, but it really wasn't that bad a movie.
The Marine was going to star Steve Austin and Al Pacino, but Austin parted ways with WWE and Pacino obviously wanted more money than they could offer....even Ray Liota turned down the roll of the bad guy.
Now.....The Marine 2....staring Ted Dibiase's son....that movie was twice the turd the first one was.
And that Paul/Big Slow movie....that was horrible....Knucklehead, probably the worst movie I sat through in the past year (and I have seen probably 100 movies in the past year) Had some funny moments and I do like Dennis Farina who played pretty much the same character as in Snatch. And that movie pissed me off more than anything because they were trying to pass fake pro wrestling moves as MMA bare knuckle fights....those parts hurt to watch. But I can see if I was 10 years old it would be entertaining (even though it is PG13 in the states...probably PG in Canada)
The reason that Fedor was chosen is because Hollywood is all about overseas sales now a days. WWE movies do good domestically, but that shit doesn't get them money.
Like a movie like the most recent Nicholas Cage movie, Drive Angry, it will be considered a bomb in the box office and will probably lose 10-20 million in the States, but overseas and DVD sales, that will at least make the movie turn a profit. It is currently listed as being the lowest-grossing opening of a 3D film released in over 2,000 theaters.
I would say that there are more people around the world that know Fedor and would be willing to see him in a movie than Cena. (especially at the time The Marine was made)
All movies now a days cater towards these foreign markets...that why there are so many shitty action movies that seem to come out all the time.
