"I don't really think so much about fighting guys until I'm scheduled to fight them. Right now, I'm thinking about Little Nogueira and after I fight Little Nogueira then I'll see who I'm scheduled to fight next. That's really how I take it ... There's no reason to assume you are going to fight someone. You know, it kind of starts that feeling of awkwardness, if you do, when you see that person. I just fight whoever I have to fight. That's it. It's good that they are looking at me. I appreciate that. That's great. I mean, one day I would love to fight for the belt. I just need to get there."

I've been a fan since he came in not too long ago. He's seems like a pretty classy guy and is funny as hell while at the same time, he is a beast. I hope he destroys Nog this weekend and moves on. Quote:

I think Phil Davis wins a UD against LiL Nog. However his striking inst where it needs to be for him to have a chance against Jones. If he keeps improving he will get his shot at Jones sooner then later.

It's like, just take a look at Jones' legs and take a look at Phil's legs, it seems like it be hard for Jones to keep Davis from just plowing through him repeatedly. That, and the fact that Jones gassed in his fights with Bonnar and Shogun (according to his coaches) makes me think it could be a tough fight for him. People might say his wrestling is as good as Davis' but I would disagree. They have different styles of wrestling, too, and I just think it would be hard for Jones to throw Phil or manhandle him the way he has other opponents with Phils phoenominal base, and we have never seen JJ off of his back. If he gasses in a fight where he's in COMPLETE control basically the whole time, how is he going to do in a fight where he gets plowed through and put on his back repeatedly?
Obviously Phil needs to work on his striking though for him to have a better shot, and we aren't really sure about how well he takes a hard shot to the chin. If he can just work on that striking D, tighten up his punches, and keep improving his grappling, by the time he gets to Jones I think we will be in for one hell of a fight.
Then again, I think his fight against Rashad is going to be tough, too, which alot of people disagree with. Think about it. What are 2 of the main reasons Shogun lost? His conditioning and the hard shots (flying knee, headkick) that he ate early. Rashad has excellent conditioning and is usually pretty conservative early (and sometimes the whole fight). Rashad also has better boxing imo, although he obviously doesn't possess the knees, elbows, and kicks (to an extent) that Bones' does.
Rashad just has to initiate the grappling for him to have a good chance. If he stands around on the outside like he did against Machida, he will get ko'd. He just needs to find a smart way inside, throw some heavy combos and try to take Jones down. Work him on the cage if he can't get him down. Jones combos and punching power really doesn't impress me (from standing position at least), I think Rashad could definitely get inside and knock him out.

Love some these thread titles. No shit he won't dive in, he has a fight as well as does Jones.
Not only that but where has it been legitimately announced that he gets a title shot IF he beats Nog? Cart might be getting ahead of the horse here. But I must agree that Davis is a beast and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him fight for the strap after 2-3 more difficult wins. Afterall the LHW div. is no cakewalk.
Dbader08 I am in complete agreement with how tough Rashad will be and am actually thinking an upset unanimous dec. is going to happen.

He doesn't need to jump in head first anyways. There are plenty of LHWs to challenge/be fed to Jon Jones for a while
