Drew Fickett and Hermes Franca square off for the vacant strap at MFC 30 “Up Close & Personal.” Quote:
Canada’s foremost MMA promotion, the Maximum Fighting Championship, will have a new lightweight titleholder come June 10, when Drew Fickett and Hermes Franca square off for the vacant strap at MFC 30 “Up Close & Personal.”
The promotion on Monday officially announced both the title bout and the event, which takes place at the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and will be broadcast live on HDNet. MFC Director of Media and Fighter Relations Scott Zerr confirmed to Sherdog.com that the organization and previous champion Antonio McKee opted to “mutually vacate” the title over the weekend.
MFC 30 marks the fourth iteration of the promotion’s “Unplugged” series, in which the promotion brings events to smaller-than-usual venues.

The MFC Cards are decent, watching Drew and Hermes fight is pretty interesting as well. Glad to see Marcus Davis fighting again. |

What the heck does it mean when McKee opts to "mutually vacate" the title?

Makes for a good story if he does decide to come back. Veach Replaces McKee, Meets Fickett in MFC 28 Co-Main Event Quote: |
“I’m disappointed not to be facing McKee for the title, but it’s only a matter of time until I get my hands on the MFC lightweight belt,” Fickett stated in a release.
| I guess he probably didn't give MFC a date in the future he think you would be fully healed.
I still hope McKee tries to make another run. I am still upset he was bounced from the UFC.

I am thinking Hermes wanted out of his contract with his former manager Reed Wallace, who is head of White Chocolate Management.
In that last MFC fight....it wasn't pretty. He had to take damage to deliver some. Not until he moved inside and put himself in danger...and took a couple shots, then he delivered the KO punch.

Hermes was retired for about a year or so but I guess the temptation to fight was too hard for him to resist.

Hermes should win this one, seems like the better grappler and striker with more power, both are oppurtunistic fighters tho so anything can happen but I'd expect Hermes to win a decision
