Oh but he took him down or threatened with a sub or controlled him in the clinch right? No? Then how did he "clearly" win? Yes as a Penn fan or even as BJ himself it had to be frustrating but he did nothing to alter his game plan, he just kept swinging and missing.

He clearly won by outstriking and outgrappling edgar. Edgar was something like 0-5 in takedown attempts, that's Penn being more effective in grappling and in octagon control. Penn also outstruck Edgar, landing more punches than he missed. He didn't need to need to change his game plan, because he was winning the fight.
I'm not debating the rematch, Edgar absolutely won it. But the first fight was a bullshit decision.

Again, damage doesn't factor into scoring fights. Penn was outscoring him striking and stuffing his takedown attempts.
Again, I'm not debating the second fight. It was a clear decision for Edgar. But no way in hell did he win the first one. The amusing thing is how people think winning the second fight proved that Edgar won the first one too, or to go so far as to say nonsense like "he dominated Penn twice."
