Not that I know of. He was supposed to be on the NYE card and then nothing ever came of it.

Furthermore, as we all know MMA, and specifically UFC the face of MMA in the US, is still working very hard to overcome the stigma of "cage fighting", the stigma that was once attached to it at its early stages and which some portion of non-MMA fans still think is reality.

Given that, the last thing MMA or UFC need are some crazy or criminal element like Tyson or Don King to get involved.

I think that the UFC already do hype up there main match ups, they try to find a hype angle, this time it was to play on tito and liddells old "friendship"and how they are now rivals, they showed tito's supposed eye poke which lost him the 1st fight, also they showed many clips of tito stating the belt was his and how he is going to get it back, all little things but when seen over time all add hype, they try to find this "angle" for every main event they stage, i think at the minute that is as much hype as the UFC dare go, any more might have a negative effect on the increasing acceptance of the sport.

Name 3 ideas to create controvercy in the UFC that would be good for MMA as a sport.
1. Promoters such as Dana White should get the fighters to be a little more animated at press conferences. Look at the press conference prior to the first Shamrock/Ortiz fight - didn't that make everyone excited to see that fight? Remember all the interviews that Shamrock and Tito did on all those news shows? Sooo much smack talked by both - generated a great buzz for the upcoming fight. GSP had a chance to talk smack against Matt Hughes on live tv during the Ultimate Fight Night - he missed his chance at stating up some more buzz leading up to his fight. GSP could have talked smack, but he wilted away and just shut up. True, he spanked Hughes, but wouldn't it have been a lot nicer to have him talk smack and then spank Hughes? Why do all UFC fighters have to be the good guy?

2. UFC, who supposedly has a much larger marketshare of the MMA world, should "steal" fighters from Pride and other smaller MMA organizations. UFC has already gotten Crocop and Rampage to fight in their next card. What if UFC approached Fedor and offered him a ton of money to fight Sylvia? What if UFC offered Wanderlai Silva a ton of money to fight The Iceman in a title unification fight? I know they were "supposed" to fight last November, but I guarantee you - if UFC had offered Wand a ton of money, his ass would be fighting Liddell in the biggest MMA matchup in history! UFC should start getting aggressive by throwing a lot of money around in consolidating its marketshare as the premier organization in the world.

3. Start up a fighter's union in the UFC. It bothers me that some fighters get so little for all the training and fighting they do - while the UFC makes tons of money. With the amount of money the UFC makes, they should share it more with the people that make it a truly exciting event. The fighter's union would press for fighters rights much like the players unions in the major Amercian sports. The union would fight for higher pay and other benefits for fighters.

unions start off with good intentions but usually end up corrupting the sport there in.

boxing is on the decline, theres no reason for the ufc to hype shit like boxing did just to look like retards like boxing did when there supposed big fights flopped and people stops buying there mumbo jumbo, ufc needs to continue letting the fights speak for themselves!

I like your 2nd and 3rd ideas. As far as stealing fighters go, Dana has already gotten the ball rolling on it and it seems like its just beginning to me. You cant really expect him to sign everybody at once, but WEC,WFA and Cro Cop in such a short span is HUGE. I think a fighters Union would be very benefincal to the fighters not so great for the orgs but very good for the fighters and after all that is who this should be about.

Im not so sure about your first statement. I agree that promoting events in different ways needs to be done more and more but UFC66 was promote quite a bit. I do not think a fight talking shit and disrespecting his opponent is neccesary to create buzz and sell tickets. If you are putting out a good enough product then the quality of the fight is what you are going to sell for the most part. Look at the biggest boxing match of the year coming up DLH/PBF both of these guys will be professionals leading up to this fight and it will not have a problem getting attention. While alittle heat and rivarly is always a good thing, I dont think it should relied on to sell your fights.

Dana's done one and two. He's already chastised some of his fighters for NOT hyping their fights enough.

NO UNION!!!!
