| Herb Dean the worst UFC Ref?
Is it me, or is Herb Dean the worst UFC Referee? You look at how he stops fights - not very deceisive. John McCarthy stops fights with decisiveness. Your thoughts?

My thoughts? name all the fights that Herb Dean effed up
IMO Shamrock/Ortiz 2 and that was it, AA/Cruz? no.. he warned AA about the kicking, yes it was odd that he asked Cruz to stand up and he said no but at the same time Cruz didnt throw the leg kick.. AA did so if Cruz wants to stay there he should.. he then restarted the fight, and Cruz got fucked.. all on Cruz.. not Herb Dean cuz Herbs job is to warn AA if he does somethin illegal and he did that, he then gave Cruz a choice.. Cruz choose to stay there and leave his chin out.. and the results were him gettin KO'd
BJM on the other hand.. Hughes/GSP 2 nuff said..

This is brought up after almost every event and I think the complaints are unwarranted.

When he is thinking of stopping the fight, he is standing BEHIND the fighters, getting ready to wave his hands...is that odd that he stands BEHIND the fighters?
I have seen other instances where he is waving a stop to the fight and the fighters don't see him waving his arms, and the one guy on top keeps pummeling the guy on the bottom? It seems like Dean hesitates jumping between the fighters to stop the fight.
The referee should be decisive in stopping the fight.

he had Tank Abbott pissed off at him cuz of one of his decisions, a decision that he could NOT man up to
how about Newton/Hughes? That was controversial
oh and most recently.. GSP/Hughes 2

oh and most recently.. GSP/Hughes 2 | Newton Hughes...how would you have called it? You certainly can't call it for Newton...BJM commented on this fight himself. This fight was kind of a simultaneous knockout...so how do you award the win? Do you award it to Newton, who was KTFO, or do you award it to Hughes who went to sleep momentarily and then got up and found out he won? Tough one to call.
How did BJM screw Tank? Which fight?
How did BJM screw up the GSP Hughes2 fight? Are you talkin about the end? BJM gave Hughes a little longer time to fight his way out. Anybody other than Hughes, BJM would have stopped it sooner.

Anybody other than Hughes, BJM would have stopped it sooner. | No but BJM was not in the right position to make any call, and to comment on how it was a simultaneous KO when he was behind Hughes is ridiculous.. side angle was the best view and BJM was not there.. and he tried to use logic to back up his decision.. not decisive at all
the HUGHES/GSP 2 Fight, BJM Stopped that shit in the first fuckin round! then he shrugged it off sayin it was the bell.. he is so lucky GSP dominated him in the 2nd.

I hate threads like this. I don't know which fight at UFC 66 you guys are talking about, but two fights prove threads like this should never exist with Herb Dean's name attatched. Tim Sylvia vs. Frank Mir I and Ken Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz II. Anyone who still points to Shamrock-Ortiz 2 after seeing their third fight is just holding onto something they think adds to their argument, when in fact to anyone who knows any better it actually detracts from it.
