Unarmed hand to hand combat is actually no holds barred fighting - precisely what the fighting in the UFC and Pride is NOT. Unarmed hand to hand combat is what two enemy soldiers, who are unarmed would engage in when they fight. They will use any means necesarry - punching, kicking, biting, eye gouging, soft tissue strike, etc. to make sure they are the one surviving.

You mean you are a fan of the blood and guts and not the heart of the sport, the respect and true competition. The Bushido side of it if you will. People like you will ultimately ruin this sport. No disrespect meant to you. I have just competed too long and studied too hard for fucking NASCAR rednecks to come in and think my sport needs a COOL NAME and more KO's to keep the trailers hoppin.

No, actually I mean Pancrase, the Japanese MMA Organization. Pankration is what the ancient Greeks called it. Quoting exactly from Pancrase's website: The origin of the name PANCRASE dates back to the ancient Greeks who had a sport competition called PANKRATION. If you want to learn more about it, check out their website, and do your homework: http://www.pancrase.co.jp/en/ | First please read more throughly next time before you post...P.S. I noticed it took you a while to find that info after I posted it for you glad to help you learn more about our sport.
P.S. look at my posts they speak for them selves the only time I jump on some one is when they in my mind are being uncourteous to the sport. Now let me explain You who are obviously a new fan (I have read your questions to clint and it is obvious) come to a long tradition of a sport, that is why I had to correct you and say Pankration to you, and pose to change the very thing we have fought long and hard to have accepted by the mainstream. And now that it is becoming widely accepted we get guys like you wanting to change the whole aspect of the SPORT and the gist of what it is. We train long and hard to fight in these situations and to have someone like you not care about the skill and time we put into it and think it is just some blood sport hence your statement " I like the raw, savage and violent aspect of MMA," is quite insulting in and of itself. That is my problem with your posts and anyone that likes to put it with Prowrestling or make a joke out of it. People work hard to be able to fight in MMA and back in the day it certainly wasn't about the money. We have come a long way the fans and the athletes and to have some people like you want it to be a side show is just plane lame.

And I am a little hard on guys like him Lilmac and Dominious (sp?) just read above and get and understanding. But I think Lilmac and Dominious add much of the time to the board though

I think your respect for the sport is very admirable. I guess my only problem with slamming someone is when it is based on past conversations or posts more then the thread at hand. You totally have the right to feel the way you do, but if you keep slamming this guy for comming up with unusual threads you're going to look like an asshole. And believe me, I know everything about looking like an asshole here. I actually like that he comes up with something different then "who has the best body?", "Should Vera drop to 205" (for the third time), and "Liddell vs. Wanderlie" (for the tenth time)
He has a different passion for the sport that I think needs recognition, but you are free (obviously) to be traditional about the sport.

I think instead of MMA it should be called Hybrid Super Combat Blood Fight.
Either that or Tittyjam.
