How can MMA be "MISLEADING???
That’s it exactly. A Professional MMA fighter has his roots usually in one, maybe two discipline(s). When he enters the ring or cage, if he hasn’t enhanced his game with knowledge of several other disciplines he may find himself in trouble real fast (requiring him to mix his martial art skills). The Gracie’s invitation in UFC 1 caught everyone’s attention. Every discipline believed theirs to be the best (or they wouldn’t have broken off from their parent discipline). The fighters saw that they either needed to learn – at this point anyway - offensive JJ (in addition to their fundamental principal orientation) or at the very least learn how to defend against JJ submissions.
I guess I just don’t get it.
Why do you need a “cooler” sounding name when MMA sounds so uhm, uhu, alarming?
Oh no, this guy has mixed Martial Arts, while I only have my (insert a single discipline here, college wrestling, Kempo, etc.)
