| Is Anderson Silva really only 6' tall?
If this has already been discussed, sorry for posting this - and please direct me to the old thread that discusses this - sorry again if it was already discussed.
Here goes: Is A. Silva really 6' tall? His UFC bio lists him at 6' tall, but I don't think that is correct. I saw the fight between him and Leben, and he and Leben were both listed as 5' 11" tall, but when they were face to face prior to the start of the match, the Spider was way taller than Leben. I think the Spider is more like 6' 4" or 6' 5" tall. When A. Silva stood at the back of the cage, his ear was at the edge of the top of the cage. I believe the top of the cage is 6' high? Which would make the Spider at least 6' 3" or even as much as 6' 5".
Another thing I noticed was that the Spider was taller than the Ace, and the Ace is listed at 6' 1" tall. I read an MMA article that talked about Franklin looking "small" in the octagon with the Spider.
Do you think the Spider purposely lists himself as a smaller fighter, so that opponents that look at his stats think he is only 6' tall - and then, when they get in the ring, the opponents are like "holy crap! this guy is towering over me!"
Or do you think it is purely a mistake that he is listed as only 6' tall. The first time I saw him fight (against Leben) I thought the guy was pretty skinny for 5' 11". Normally, if you are a middleweight at 5' 11", you are a pretty stocky guy - like Leben.

I sometimes wonder about the stats that are listed aswell. I also noticed that A. Silva looked bigger that he was said to be.
It might be a move to throw fighters off their game, but I'm sure most would have been in the same room at some point in the UFC.

It's a one word answer to the question, or one simple sentence..
"Yes, he is over 6' " or "No, he is shorter" Where in that post is there any indication for debate? That is why we have a general questions thread so it doesn't clutter everything! Boone told me to direct the newer people where to post correctly instead of assuming they don't know where and that's what I'm doing. Excuse me for that.

Anderson Silva is listed as 5' 11'' on his Wikipedia and I know he has been announced at fights as 5' 11'' as well. Either way he is close to 6'.

I took it as a more than one word answer. Really the question isn't if he is or isnt that tall but whether he purposesly lists himself as being shorter as a tactic.
Maybe not the best discussion, but a discussion none the less.
Personally i think he is atleast 6'1 6'2 whether purposesly lists as being shorter on purpose, dunno. Dont really see the point, cant see that it would give that much of an edge. All that really matters is he will you will get KTFO.

UFC has him at 6'0" on the website.
McCarthy is 6'4" and you can see Silva is not taller than him in the Leben fight, so Silva is not even 6'4". 6'3" at the most. The Franklin fight had him at 6'2". So he's somewhere between 6'0" and 6'3" because he's taller than Leben and shorter than McCarthy. I'd say 6'2".

I was also surprised when I saw him listed at 6'0". He looked like he had a good deal of height over Rich Franklin and I've seen Rich listed at 6'1" I believe. His body type makes him seem tall, probably around 6'2" or 6'3".
