Funny how even JDS got paid more just to show than The Champ(at the time), Velasquez.

The live gate easily pays for the fighters payroll. I wonder what kind of money they get from Fox for these shows.

Since the UFC gave this one as a freebie to Fox, they lost money on the event. The live gate paid for the fighters but Zuffa apparently covered the broadcasting cost which was in the millions. Actually it was quite the opposite, Zuffa did not profit this time.

UFC Willing to Lose Millions on FOX for Future of MMA

UFC president Dana White (Pictured) claims that scoring the ever-elusive television broadcast deal with FOX was the greatest accomplishment of his 10-year career. Although Saturday’s debut will cost the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion millions of dollars, White believes the ability to promote his product to a brand new audience is priceless.

“I became a huge boxing fan when I was growing up from watching ABC’s ‘Wide World of Sports,’” White stated during a recent conference call. “They always had the big fights on Saturday … that’s what turned me into a huge fight fan.

“Our goal has always been to bring big, free fights back to television. Now that we have a network deal, we’re looking at it as … obviously we’re going to take a hit on the pay-per-view side for a big fight like this, but we’re thinking long-term for the future of the sport and making the sport bigger. That’s why we’re gonna do it and continue to do it.”

Cain was given a great deal of undisclosed pay to make up for the lack of a ppv buy percentage.

Contracts are not made for every fight. Cain is prob working off an older contract

While I agree that fighters are under paid sometimes, The named guys still walked out with some nice change. As you know, there are "brown bag" bounses and other forms of "cash flow" for the guys. The ones that make me go HUH is the guys making 4k to show. The UFC can afford more than that. 4 K is chump change nowdays.
